And it gives you more energy! Which, ironically enough, is what's holding me back from exercising.

YES
It does good things for us but DOING IT is a different story.
I can do well for a while and then get lazy.

I am going to start tomorrow. Promise! With school back in I should be able to get some walking in again. Then this winter when I complain it's too cold, back to the WII fit!
So I found this great walking program in All You today.. 30 mins a day.. They start you out with 5 mins of warm up.. then 5 mins of moderate and then 5 mins of fast pace.. then a little specialty excersise and then back down the scale. I CAN do this one and even add in another extra 30 mins easily! (at least in the beginning)

Connie the machine sounds great. (You did not say a machine did you? Oh well no treadmill.) Real walking. ;D Ya know exercise and cutting some calories sure takes the extra weight off. The machine you are going to use sounds fantastic. (Oh I needed more coffee this morning. I would have swore you were saying walking on a treadmill.) I have an exercise bike, weight machine and some kind of machine that is kinda like riding a bucking horse. About five years ago I lost a lot of weight lifting weights and walking and cutting calories. But I have put a lot of that weight I lost back on. So now am at it again to get it off. LOL I have been doing this since I was sixteen. Gaining and losing weight. Exercise and cutting calories. Then I get lazy, eat to much and start all over again. I am very thankful I am healthy. But now that I am older I do worry more about the extra weight affecting my health and I know it does not look good. So after I log off of the computer I am getting on the bike. Thanks for the motivation.

So far all I am manageing is a 30/ 40 minute walk everyday but I know I need to add something else as well. Still losing a pound a week. So far I have dropped 14 pounds but without exercise I am sure that will slow down.

Eileen,
You are doing great. A pound a week is just terrific. Way to go.
I know when I exercise I do loose weight so much faster.
I walked this morn too. Was going to get on the bike but I decided to walk.
You said you should add something else. Ya know you can carry hand weights while you walk. I walk and hold hand weights and do punches with them while I am walking.
We will see how Connie does. I thought she was saying walking on a treadmill. Read the post again. She is doing real walking. Out doors. REAL WALKING ;D I guess walking on a treadmill is real walking. Oh well. Also Connie mentioned some other exercise along with the walking. We will have to see if she tells us what that is.
Keep up the good work. Really something to be proud of. Losing weight is difficult.

That is awesome Eileen! A lb a week is just about perfect isn't it?
Yep, real walking for me, I did about 40 mins yesterday and found a good "loop" that works out perfectly. Since it was 40 mins, I was able to incorporate 30 mins of moderate and fast pace rather than just 20.
Cindy the Wii Fit is an excercise program for the Wii. It's a lot of fun and has yoga, aerobics and fitness training. For some people it's too lightweight but it's perfect for me. I love the hula hoop and the dance steps. Plus it has a free walk setting that I can use while watching tv. I plan to use it in place of walking when the weather gets yucky.

Good for you Connie
The Wii. I sure have heard of it but forgot. Is that the one people were playing games with and threw like the racket into the TV?
Maybe I should get one. Sounds like a good way to exercise and make it fun.
I have aerobic videos and a step. You should have seen me doing that. I did good until I had to do little spins and stuff.
Hula Hoops sound good for me. I was pretty good with a Hoop when I was young. Fun too.
Will check the Wii out. I think I am missing out on something good.

The Wii is a ton of fun. Yes it's the one where people were throwing the rackets through the tvs. Now it comes with straps... hehe.. The sports game has bowling, baseball, and tennis. My dh works up quite a sweat on the tennis game!
The Wii fit is another "game" that you can buy, at first it seems really easy but it gets harder the more time you spend on it. Heavenly is using a much tougher work out game for the Wii.. Im not nearly ready for that one!
Todays walk was NOT as easy. My legs were stiff and about 30 mins into it I had to stop at a friends house for a drink of water.. whew... Picked up the pace to finish coming home though!

I am looking into a Wii but not till Christmas most likely, things being tight and all. WHy is it all the good food just crys out to you and the green stuff is just quite as a mouse. My daughter made dinner but also got Buttered Garlic Italian bread, (I love bread) and then the next day my son brings home a pizza (I also have an relationship with pizza). Boy have I got issues. Still got my walks in and I have till Sunday morning for my self imposed weigh in. We'll see how it goes this week.

Eileen
I too love food. Love good food but also like Junk food sometimes. I enjoy the green stuff. Vegetables and salads I really like. Fruit is OK but I sure go for chocolate before fruit for sweets. I can skip bread. My family enjoys bread and my husband bakes. Now when it is freshly baked I always eat it.
I too may wait tell Christmas for the Wii. I have plenty of equipment and videos to keep me busy until then. Need something new. Will be fun.
Luck at your weigh in.
I am just staying at the same weight this past month. I have cheated to much. Have to get back to being strict. Winter is coming and could really goof up.

We did really good this weekend eating healthy! Well mostly. Saturday we had hamburgers (no cheese), with salad, corn on the cob and sliced tomatoes. Fresh peaches and cream for dessert. It was actually very yummy! That night though, I bribed dh, I would make fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy if he cleaned the kitchen.. haha.. I still threw in more corn on the cob, tomatoes and cucumbers.
Yesterday for dinner I made stuffed peppers, more salad, more corn on the cob, more sliced tomatoes, then rasberry shortcake for dessert..
I need to get creative tonight.
Im really trying to look at "excersise" as more of a way to get healthier instead of just looking at it as a weight loss tool. If I focus on losing weight I just can't do it.. I start resenting all the good foods. If I eat what I want and start using more veggies and excersise because I want to be healthier.. hopefully the weight loss will be a bonus and I won't be watching the scale daily.... hopefully.

Keeping active kind of makes sense to keep the weight off. Time for it gets to be the challenge.
My weight in Sunday was a squeaker but I made it. Another pound gone though not forgotten. I must admit it is getting harder each week. I've got to keep coming up with ways to stay the course.
I am definatily not eating as well as you are Connie. But then again, I'm a lousy cook.
