Patty it really depends on what you are selling, its no longer the easy place to sell your stuff it used to be. Some folks are loving it, but most sellers cleaning out their attics and closets are being bogged down by fee's and such. I personally quit selling there and wont go back. ITs not the place it used to be. YOur best bet is to search out the product you want to sell and then see if it sells well.

Have you tried Craigslist? It gives you the opportunity to sell locally (no shipping) and in most cases you can get more money than what you would on ebay.

Does anybody know what sellers are left to do now that they can't leave negative feedback for buyers? To me, that's just not right. Non-paying buyers and scammers are a problem and sells don't appear to have any resource to alert other sellers about them.
I'm a little miffed at Ebay because starting next month, shipping for books is limited to $4.00. I just sold some college textbooks and none of them cost me $4.00 to ship. They all cost between $6.00 and $7.00. I know Ebay was cracking down on people inflating shipping charges to avoid paying seller's fees, but be reasonable. Maybe I'll put my next batch on Craigslist and hope for the best.

I read this article online that eBay is planning to make PayPal the only method of payment. Alot of people are against that idea and there are a number of people hating PayPal for freezing accounts that don't deserve to be freezed etc.
EBay's marketplace can greatly be affected with this change that may take place next month and people may flock to Google or elsewhere.

Ebay is simply becomign the place for large scale sellers. NOt you locals. And yes, they are stopping all cash, money order and checks. It all started years ago when you wernt allowed to use your email as your seller ID and had to start emailing through their spam-o-nator from hell...

I understand too that eBay is also used as an advertising playground. I personally never bought anything from eBay yet though.
Spam-o-nator from hell?

OH its gotten rediculus. I only go there cause I have friends on one of th emessage boards.
Years and years ago, (before paypal was even a company LOL) you could have your email addy as your user name. your buyers could email you directly. then they insetutued (sp) the id rule. Not a huge deal, unless your email client and ebay's progrming didnt 'talk'. I didnt get emails at all for YEARS. no matter what I did. there for a time you could put your email on your me page, or in your auction. Then they said no.
between the rules and regulations, lack of effort on their part to help keep it a decent community with little or no problems from ripoffastan, and the members who are selling something for 99 cents and charging 89.00 to ship it, its not worth my time or effort. Its nothing close to what it used to be.

I sold on Ebay for about 4-5 years. Did pretty good but the last two months it stinks. The $ you can get per auction has really gone down, so with fees & stuff it just doesn't work any more. I will probably look into it again in November cause of Christmas.
I sell on Amazon & the sales still trickle in enough to make a little. They do charge though. If you are looking for a place with no fees try eCrater. I get a couple sales a month there. I don't spend a lot of time promoting it, I just list things where I still have a lot of inventory to move. Also Blujay is free but I haven't had a sale in several months. eCrater & Blujay are good, you just need to promote them. The only fees are from Paypal or Google Checkout

So I guess I have the same ? that started this thread what about now since the June 2009 changes Has anybody noticed any changes as far as sales? I was quite amzed that if you are trying to sell something over 200 ebay gets 18%!!! Plus FYI Ebay owns 25% of Craigslist and that is from their website not something I read somewhere else on the web. Thanks
