This quote goes back a previous conversation we had:
"Steiner of AuctionBytes.com said this situation was not uncommon. Buyers and sellers are often reluctant to leave bad reviews, lest their own reputations suffer. " [/b]

Wow Kelly! What did you order? That is an AWFUL long time to wait!

No, I got what I ordered but it took almost 50 days for me to receive it. Plus, it was a time sensitive item. It was a Christmas decoration. I mentioned it somewhere on here before. The seller forgot to order it along with the other 5 or 6 items I bought from her. (in October) After a long time, I finally emailed her and said I didn't receive the ladder. She emailed me back with her email she received saying that all items were delivered. And she was like "It says here you've already received them, Thank you" I was furious. I emailed her back and said "Nowhere does your email even MENTION the ladder that I'm talking about!" And she emailed back and said "Oh, I forgot to order that, I'm so sorry" Then the dropshipper was taking forever to ship it. She said "I will email you when I hear from the dropshipper that they have shipped your item" But I knew who the dropshipper was so I started emailing them about 3 times a day. I told them that they were sitting around with their thumbs up their *you know whats* and they better get their *butts* in the warehouse and ship my item. Finally they email ME, not her, and said they were shipping it immediately. So I emailed that dumb seller and told her that I finally got them to ship it but it was like 1 week away from Christmas (that's all the time I would have to display it) and it was her dumbass that forgot to order it with my almost $300 order so I wanted to be refunded for the ladder that I "grossly overpaid" for. She wrote back saying "Kelly, this is just a ladder. Do you know how many children are suffering in the world?" So I filed a PayPal dispute and they emailed me back saying that she had provided proof that I received the item so the dispute was closed. I email them back asking if they even bothered to read my dispute cause I never said I didn't receive the item??!! They never emailed me back. I want to leave her a negative soooo bad but then I know she will leave me one, too. Ohhh, it's killing me. It just made me so angry to even think about it. What you think about all that, Connie?

I just really think the negative feedback should be used. If EVERYONE is afraid to leave feedback for fear of their own feedback, people will continue to order from people that are frauds, or bad sellers, because they LOOK like they're wonderful. It is the whole basis of the ebay system, and why they started the feedback option. If they have the nerve to leave you bad feedback, just reply to it. If I'm going to buy from someone, I go through and actually read the feedback, not just look at the score. [/b]

Bad sellers look like they're wonderful but what about good buyers that are in fact wonderful but get bad feedback as retaliation? I DESERVE my 100% positive feedback, you know?

I understand Kelly. For me it is also a matter of pride. I wouldn't FEEL good if my score were less than 100%, even though I know I did nothing wrong. it just wouldn't be the same for me. At the same time I know Sam is right too. Ebay feedback was started as a way to communicate across the board. The bad people are using it like a hostage tool and it drives me crazy. I have been thinking there should be some way to solve this problem. I think ebay should set it up so that bad feedback can be REMOVED if it is found to be "retaliation". There has to be some way to resolve this problem. The ones I despise are the ones who right in their auction description state if badfeedback is left for me I will do the same. Now if they don't even have faith in themselves to provide good service why should I have faith they will deliver?

Actually eBay says that they will NOT investigate retaliation feedback because there are too many. They couldn't possible have the time. It's just that eBay doesn't care. They just want our money. They show that in their actions a lot. Also, many people believe that -- just like in the article you posted. It's so stressful to think about, I just try not to.

You can always put in a reply under someone's negative feedback. I've seen that a lot where the buyer left neg. fb and the seller can reply to it in their defense - if any. I had to do this for a woman who bought a jacket from me and claimed she never got it and that I was a bad e-bayer. The jacket was 99 cents and shipping was like $3. I mailed it out and even made her a copy of the receipt to show her I DID mail it. She refused to buy the insurance and/or delivery confirmation , so I couldn't do anything to help her track down the box. Now I require both no matter what. I replied to her neg. fb proving I mailed it, but it did bring down my score to 99.3%. I am about to open a web site of my own for my things. E-bay's fees are killing me!!!

I think a good idea for ebay to do is don't let feedback show on either party's part, until BOTH post. So, for instance, the auction ends and one can post the feedback, but it won't show until the other person does. They could have about a week to leave feedback, and if they don't then it's just their loss.
I know this method is possible because I know an auction site does it. (www.basilmarket.com) It's an online gaming community... but if they can do it, so can ebay, right? And this method seems to totally cut out the 'retaliatory' negative feedback.
