This is the very best homemade play dough that I have ever seen. Kids just love it because it has cool colors, smells so good and lasts a long time without drying out. I usually add 1/4 to 1/2 cup flour to this recipe for a firmer dough. I have also cut this in half and made many different colors at the same time as this makes quite a big glob of dough. 2 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup salt 2 packages dry unsweetened kool-aid or store brand 2 cups boiling water 3 Tablespoons oil Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix liquids together and pour into dry ingredients. Stir until it forms a ball(it will seem like it will never be smooth and workable). As it cools, it will become less sticky. Take it out of the bowl and knead it until it is smooth. Store in ziplock bags or airtight storage containers. We used lots of cookie cutters and other kitchen utencils etc. and made pretend food, or little plastic army men, animals etc. that you can get at the dollar store for rolling around in dough. Enjoy with your children. It is great fun and relieves stress!!!!

Thank you! This is the same recipe they used in preschool and I am always having to look it up.
For those of you who have never made this one.. it truly is the best.. PLUS the kool aid gives it a great scent so you can have grape, strawberry, etc. One year the teachers even made it smell like gingerbread at christmas time!

This is too funny! I tried to make playdough last week for the first time and it was a MESS! It was flour, oil, water and something else. I must have messed up somewhere. But then again, last Easter I messed up the Jello recipe I was supposed to bring to brunch... so there you go!

Here's some more;
Edible Play dough
1/2 C peanut butter 1/2 C honey 1 C powdered milk
Just throw it all together and mush it up with your hands until its fairly smooth. The oils from the peanut butter will keep it from sticking to the table and the kids' hands.
"Play Dough" 1 cup flour 1/2 cup salt 1/2 cup water Mix well until it forms a ball. Knead add food coloring if desired. If sticky add some flour and if to dry add a small amount of water.
Play dough 2 1 cup flour 1 cup warm water 2 teaspoons cream of tarter 1 teaspoon oil 1/4 cup salt food coloring
Mix all ingredients (add food coloring last). Stir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from pan, let cool slightly, and knead until blended and smooth. Store in a plastic bag or airtight container when cooled.
