I go to sams and buy an entire porkloin for 20 bucks. I am talking about the ones that are pretty big around, and about 2 foot long. You take it home, cut them and freeze them. I get 6-7 meals of 6-8 pork chops each. for 20.00 I cut them the thickness I want and use my food saver. I know that when I have broken down and bought a family pack of pork chops its been 12-14 bucks for 3 or 4 good lookin ones on top and 8 crappy ones on bottom!

Great idea! I'm lucky in that we get half a hog every christmas as a gift but Im not a big fan of the pork steaks (the crappy looking chops in those packages).
I want to do this with a prime rib but Im SOOOO cheap! Haha... I wonder if there is a way to do this and get tenderloin steaks.. I really wanted one yesterday but it was $16 for two tiny steaks!

LOL I know what you mean. Rib Eye you can also do itwith as the pork chop and the rib eye are teh 'back strap' of the animal. tenderloins.. I dont think.. I have never butchered a cow so I cant say where they themselves come from. BUT the tenderloins on a deer are just a small peice of meat on the inside of the back leg. we always thow it in with the back strap. Of course the Rib eye one is about a hundred bucks... its still WAY worth it, but I already spend about 700 a month on groceries. I cant see doing that!
