Hi all! I am new here and I thought I would post a site that my family uses to save money every month. www.angelfoodministries.orgThey food is resturant quality. Most of the time it is better tasting that what you buy at the grocery store. You buy whatever you want. If you want 4 basic bundles for $25 each you can. You must by a $25 bundle in order to purchase a meat special. It is not income based. It is not a handout. The people that run it here are really nice. They do not try to get you to join their church or anything like that. here is this months menu October 2006 Menu (10) 4 oz. Beef & Bean Burritos (1) 4 lb. Individually Quick Frozen Chicken Thighs (1) 1.5 lb. Pork Roast (1) 3 lb. Chicken Tenders (1) 1 lb. Fully Cooked Meatballs (1) 2 lb. Chicken Breast Filets (1) 7.8 oz. Lasagna Dinner (1) 16 oz. 16 Bean Soup Mix (1) 28 oz. Pasta Sauce (1) 16 oz. Pasta (1) 16 oz. Rice (1) 2 lb. Potatoes (1) 2 lb. Onions (1) 7.5 oz. Pancake Mix (1) 11 oz. Box, Breakfast Cereal (1) Dozen Eggs (1) Dessert Item ALL THIS FOR THE LOW COST OF JUST $25.00* *price may vary based on taxes and other fees **One or more specials available only with the purchase of a regular unit.** OCTOBER SPECIAL #1 Surf & Turf Special - $18.00 (4 8-oz. T-Bone Steaks, 2 lbs. Breaded Shrimp) OCTOBER SPECIAL #2 10 lb. Box, Corn Dogs - $18.00 (60-count) OCTOBER SPECIAL #3 4.5 lb. Box, Chicken Cordon Bleu - $18.00 (16 4-oz. Welcome to the forum gardenho! I've heard about Angle Food Ministeries threw my mother in law who sometimes buy's some of her food threw them.. She has tried to get me to go with her sometimes but I wouldn't know where to store all of that food. My husband works in the catering business and he brings home free food from his work daily ( Like left over's and frozen meat ) and it take's up all of the space in our ice box. But i've heard great things about Angel Food Ministeries and they give you A LOT of GOOD food for $25 dollars.. My mother in law told me that you have to pay for the food a week in advance then a week later pick up the food.. Thanks for sharing this information & leaving the link to their website, I wasn't aware that they had a website until now

Thanks. We love it. You do have to turn your money in early. This months deadline is October 7. Which reminds me to take my money in. And you have to be available to pick up at a certain time on the pickup date.. most of the time a saturday.
But I buy enough to last a month and I just keep up on a couple of things. It saves my family about $200 a month in grocery bills.
Before I turned my first month's money in I did a google search about it. It had all good things to say. Not one bad thing.
If you buy more than one special I do think a deep freeze is needed, like you mentioned it is alot of food.

I thought I would revive this old post by posting this month's menu, because it really is a great deal that anyone can benefit from. This will be our first month to participate but I have a friend who's been doing it for awhile and says the food is always high quality. For those of you who have never heard of this and would like to save money on your groceries, I strongly urge you to check the site out at www.angelfoodministries.com because it's available in many locations/30 states. This month's $18 specials are also a great deal. (One is steak and shrimp.) Those who are interested can view them at the site. Sorry, Connie, they're STILL not available in Idaho. (4) 5 oz. New York Strip Steaks (1) 4 lb. I.Q.F. Chicken Thighs (1) 40 oz. Beef & Bean Burritos (1) 28 oz. Banquet Beef & Noodle Dinner (1) 2 lb. Breaded Frying Chicken (1) 1 lb. Ground Beef (1) 12 oz. Pepperoni Pizza Sticks (1) 2 lb. Popcorn Chicken (1) 1 lb. Bean Soup Mix (1) 8 oz. Biscuit Mix (1) 7.5 oz. Mac & Cheese (1) 12 ct. Corn Tortillas (1) 26 oz. Pasta Sauce (1) 16 oz. Pasta (1) 24 oz. Hash Brown Potatoes (1) 16 oz. Mixed Vegetables (1) Dessert Item

I dont know about any. I have done this, matter of fact it was that one right up there that I did! LOL it really was pretty good.. I also got the meat package.. It wasnt bad. I would recomend anyone on a strict strict budget to do it. especially the elderly.. I think they also take the lone star card in Texas. Seems to me I remember reading that on there.

My pastor's wife just told me about Angel Food Ministries a few days ago. Their basic box is now $30 though thanks to inflation. I am going to take advantage of it. Also, with the economy the way it is and so many people laid off, I can imagine that more people are are food stamps now and they do accept food stamps. Just wanted to update the info because it is a good thing to know with the cost of food going up during these hard economic times.

I just happened to find this post, ironically, right after I had learned about angel food ministries. With my husband and unemployed, we had been looking for ways to cut costs on food. This post seemed a little barried since it hadn't been looked at in awhile.
