.. if you are Hispanic or not? I am hispanic and I find it really odd. Is there any reasoning behind this? Why must there be a seperate race section just for it?

I always wondered about that, too. I'm not Hispanic, but I think it's odd that it's always listed separately.

because it is a specific culture group in US.
Why does HBO has a Latin channel (That is in Spanish), why does DMV allows you to take the test in Spanish?
Answer is simple Hispanics are an important culture group and a distinct percentage of the population.
Many companies have products targeted specifically to Hispanics or they may have different versions of the products for Hispanics.

I find the "race" question insulting, particularly the "check only one" box. I'm Hispanic, black and Cherokee. If you are multiracial they make you choose only one or the ridiculous "other" box. If they have a comment section at the end of a survey I let them know that by not allowing a person to check more than one box, they aren't getting accurate results. Also my color or ethnicity doesn't make me choose one product over another.
