Has anyone joined any of the survey sites that require software installation? I'm just a bit leery of these, and was wondering if anyone could tell me which ones are safe, or if you have any experience.

Which ones REQUIRE software installation? I have never signed up with a site that wanted me to download software.

Nielsen (not sure if that is the spelling) requires you to install some software before you can finish registering. Greenfield has notification software, and Surveys.com asks you to install their notification software.
I was just wondering if any of this is safe.

I believe they are all safe. I do have the AC nielson software installed for the homestead online programs and I am also a homescan panel member. I did try to install the greenfield notification software and it never worked. It is not required and I don't use it and I don't use surveys.com software. I have never had a problem with AC Nielsons software if that helps.

Oh, and OpinionSquare requires you to install software to participate.

Is that a new think for opinionsquare? I take their surveys all the time and don't remember having to install software? Is it the active X files that you need to install? Active X is required for a lot of things not just survey sites, I know I am always installing it for something or other.

I'm not sure. I started to join, and before I could, it prompted me to install some software. Only when I installed would it go to the rest of the registration information. I suppose, though, that since I got through the registration process, I could always uninstall the software?

You could try. I know a lot of people that take opinionsquare surveys and no one has ever said they have had problems. If it is just the active x controls like Mike thinks I wouldn't worry about it though. If I remember right most of opinionsquares surveys are through OTX and they use a lot of videos in the surveys.
