well, it certainly is outrageous for this rancher to be sued
however, i really doubt he would be found guilty by a jury in Federal Court. there's just no way a jury of AMERICANS could be convinced defending your property is to deny trespassers (that aren't even citizens) their civil rights.
and even if by some weird chance they guy was found guilty, you can be sure that the Supreme Court would ultimately overturn the conviction.
the Supreme Court can't rule on an issue unless they have a case before them that puts the issue to test.
this case may give them the opportunity to establish exactly what civil rights criminal illegal aliens have.

This guy is a hero in my book. He shouldn't be getting sued, we should be giving him a medal.
Violating their civil rights?? THEY'RE ILLEGAL ALIENS, they shouldn't have any civil rights! I'd counter-sue the lawyers who defended these aliens just for being so ignorant.
OK so what, he was carrying a handgun & rifle (which were more than likely registered) on his own property...defending it, himself & his family from potentially dangerous people. I guess the defense attorneys were absent the day they taught The 2nd Amendment in law school.
Many illegal aliens die while trying to make the journey across our border. What's next, are their families going to sue for their loss?
PS...the rancher sort of looks like Lorne Michaels, creator of Saturday Night Live. LOL

I agree with all of you it is outragous and the judge should be put on the property for about a month and I bet he will change his mind in a hurry!! It probably wouldn't take that long but just for punishment sake LOL
