Not a chick flick, not a sports saga, but an endearing movie about a family helping a young man in need.
I went with the Spousal Unit and MIL - we all enjoyed the movie very much. Sandra Bullock should get an Oscar Nomination for this one.

I FINALLY saw this movie a few days ago...took g/f for her birthday. Great movie! Very heartwarming. The fact that's it's a true story makes it that much better.

When I saw the trailer for this last summer, I thought it was going to be a sentimental puke fest-I absolutlely hate having my "heart strings" pulled at! We saw it a few months ago and I thought it was one of the best movies of the year (right behind Zombieland ;D) Highly recommended for everyone. The cool thing is that the Michael Oar (sp?) has done very well for the Baltimore Ravens and is one of the top rookies of the year-he should have a nice NFL career if he stays healthy. Great story.

My g/f liked it but not as much as I did. A lot of people she talked to beforehand said they liked it so much, they'd gladly pay full price at the theater to see it again. So she had very high expectations. But she didn't think it was THAT good.
For me, it ranks as my #2 favorite sports related movie of all time....right behind Rudy. Rudy is in my top 5 of any movie.

I don't think I've seen Rudy but I really want to see this one! Is it out on DVD yet?

Blind Side comes out on DVD March 23rd. Rudy is based on a true story too. Takes place in the 70's about a guy who grows up in a steel mill town where his dad wants him to work, but he wants to play Notre Dame football. His grades are low, he's not a very good athlete and he's half the size of other players. But he has a ton of heart & busts his butt to get to where he wants to be. I've lost track of how many times I've watched it. The end still gives me chills every time though. Very inspirational.
