We found out recently that my husband has a cyst on his kidney - and in a small percentage of people this type of cyst could be a tumor and therefor cancer. He is having an MRI tomarrow to see exactly what it is. Then we have to see a specialist the following week because our Dr. said he wants this specialist to read the results because this is his field and he doesn't trust the results to the regular guy who reads the MRI results. We probably won't know anything for a week and i'm already stressing. Any prayers you could send up for my husband would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Linda,
Almost all kidney cysts are sacs filled with fluid and are benign. Approximately half the people over the age of 50 will have non-cancerous kidney cysts, and most don't even know they have them.
Hope this helps,
Louis
Sending prayers!

Thanks Loius, Our dr. told us that and I did look it up. But the concern here is that it is a complex cyst and they can be a problem. If it was just a simple cyst there would be no cause for concern. We are both trying to stay positive but it's still a little scary. Thanks for sending those prayers!!

Lot's of prayers and good thoughts headed your way. Let us know how it goes and try to keep positive thoughts that it is benign.

Connie and Louis, Our Dr. did call with the results, even tho he had said he wanted my husband to see that specialist. The cyst is just a cyst! The pics from the MRI were so clear and definitive that there is no doubt. My husband doesn't even have to see the specialist next week! Thank God!!.....We needed this break, we've had a couple of bad years........... Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts, I know they helped!

That is great news Linda. I agree with what Louis posted. I am 41 and I actually have 2 of those type of cysts on one of my kidneys.
I am glad it all worked out in a positive way for you and your hubby
