The United States spends nearly $100 billion to provide uninsured patients with health services, often for preventable diseases or diseases more efficiently treated with early diagnoses. This burden is shouldered by everyone. Reduce the burden by telling Congress to support the American Medical Association's plan which: - provides all Americans with the means to purchase health care coverage - gives individuals choices to select the appropriate coverage for themselves and their families - promotes market reforms that enable this new approach - increases access to care and expand coverage for the uninsured The AMA’s Patients’ Action Network is committed to leading the response to solve the health coverage crisis for all patients. Join our efforts and tell Congress to support the AMA’s plan which expands patients’ coverage and access to care. lm.logicalmedia.com/z/10332/CD3473/

Connie
I will be researching this, but it sounds right. Health Care is a lynch pin issue that must be solved.
The AMA shot down the Clinton's attempt at health care changes so I am a bit warry of them. THanks for the link.

Just a quick note on this one. Obama is decreasing medicare by 313 Billion dollars. That is not good in anyones books. We just went to the doctor and he said that since Obama has started talking about health care reform they have raised their prices so that when it goes into effect they will not be suffering with any losses at all. This is from our Doctor. Advair which is something my husband has to take, just 3 or 4 years ago it was 90 dollars a month. It is now 210.00 A month just for that. Same product ...they haven't changed a thing it still comes in the same package. His disability insurance only allows so much money for perscriptions a year. So he runs out of money by Oct what is he suppose to do the rest of the year. We have to pay out of pocket. Right now our perscriptions are about 600.00 a month. Medicare pays doctors already at a discounted rate. I am afraid that the health care you will ask for everyone that can pay taxes will be paying for it. Nothing is free. They need to get the hospitals and pharmacutical companys to lower their prices so that people can afford things. The partical reason the doctors are so high is because of the libability insurance they have to pay. just my humble opinion. Food for thought. There is no easy answer but robbing from Peter to pay Paul isn't the answer either.
This just hit the healines of Yahoo I thought I would just copy the one paragraph haven't read the whole article yet. It is under the healines Dems seeks to trim health bill as costs soar
AP - Confronting cost estimates as high as $1.6 trillion, Senate Democrats agreed Tuesday to scale back planned subsidies for the uninsured and sought concessions totaling hundreds of billions of dollars from private industry to defray the cost of sweeping health care legislation. At the same time, key Democrats disagreed openly among themselves over a proposed tax on health insurance benefits to pay for expanding coverage to the uninsured.
It is the proposed tax on health insurance benefits that bothers me. My husbands disability is getting taxed!! It shouldn't be taxed in my opinion. Everytime he gets a raise from medicare they raise the premiums too so you really don't get a raise!!! So when you see it in the news that medicare is giving people a cost of living raise or whatever they call it don't believe it.

The Heath Industry is a HUGE lobby, encompassing many parts. Doctors & Nurses, Hospitals & Clinics, Insurance, and Pharmaceutical companies all play a part. Lets just throw the colleges into it for fun! Medical, Pharmacy, and Nursing degrees aren't cheap, and the majority of people in these professions have huge loans to repay. So the statement that they are overpaid, doesn't take into account what they have to pay back. Then the insurances that the professionals and hospitals/clinics have to have to protect themselves from litigious patients and lawyers just adds to the costs. I would like to see more counter lawsuits, when claims have been found to be baseless or fraudulent. To include the disbarment of unscrupulous lawyers (ambulance chasers). As far as the Pharmaceutical Companies go, there is a lobby just to prevent the selling of the same drugs that are manufactured in a different country. They say it is for the safety of the American public, because the drugs aren't manufactured in safe environments. Do you really believe that? The fact is that most of the overseas drugs are identical in composition and purity. So then they say that Research & Development costs a lot. Well, yes it does, because there are many companies trying to compete with each other to create the same thing. What if they decided to pool resources and search for cures that way? How many different companies and universities (oooops, there's that connection again that no one is supposed to notice) have being working on the H1N1 vaccination serum? Lots of repeated work going on there, and all paid for by the taxpayer. So then there's the Insurance Companies that try to offer coverages based on demographics, with the idea of having a profit at the end of it. They do this in many markets, not just medical. For those who don't have money to exist, then insurance is a luxury and not a necessity. How many uninsured drivers are there? Do you think that they don't have any because they don't care if they're breaking the law. If I recall correctly and my memory is very good, President Obama said he would not support Mandatory Health Coverage in his 2008 campaign, but now he is open to the idea. Actually, an additional 200 billion decrease in Medicare payments made to Hospitals is being proposed, so the total Medicare decrease is 513 billion over the next 10 years. The biggest impact will be felt by the senior citizens and poor. Weebitty, you really need to contact your congressman about who your doctor is and what they told you because it is price gouging and is illegal!!! It only exacerbates the problem. Note: I have always considered myself as Independent, but Clinton made me take sides, and I was invited to join the NRCC. After he was out of office, I became Independent again. I know I have the address to the NRCC around here somewhere...

Thanks for the answer and I did write my congressman. I have written them several letters. All I get is a form letter saying thank you for writing to us. That helps alot doesn't it?? Sorry but we are going to get taxed to death and so is two or three or more generations after us. I agree with you that education is expensive and getting more so. Everything is going up plus the taxes. We are working for the government not ourselves. I agree they should have counter suits as well. I hate lawyers they are a big part of the problem. I was reading somewhere that 9 people had gone to the emergency room 2700 times. There is so much corruption going on and no one seems to be paying attention. Did anyone watch 60 mins the other night on Madoff. I can't remember the fellows name but he blew the whistle on madoff in 2001 and it only took him one day to figure it out. The SEC is nothing but paper pushers they don't have any idea what to do or how to figure out if something is going wrong. That is scary. I was wondering why the SEC never does anything now I know. They don't have any idea how to do anything. oh well off my soap box. But I agree with alot of what you said. I didn't realize that they were taking another 200 Billion from us. You can't rob peter to pay paul it doesn't work. If I could post this article it is very interesting but kind of long but you might understand how the system works in some government circles. It is too long to post here but it is very interesting reading. www.jonbarron.org/baseline-health-program/2009-05-25.php Again follow the money.

thanks having fun now. Yes I enjoyed reading it but was disgusted as well. How do you stop this crap!! You don't know it is going on until it is over with basically. Glad you read it and enjoyed it too. The more informed we are the better. It just proves what really goes on without our knowledge. Hopefully others will read it too.
