Organizing Your Forum Board Links
I am often asked, "How are you able to keep up with so many of the online networking groups and forum boards?" My response is, I am organized. How do I organize all of my online networking groups and forums? It's really easy. Here is what I do:
Make some folders in your online web browser. To do that using Internet Explorer, click on Favorites and then add to favorites. When the next box pops up, click on New Folder and another box pops up. You will want to type in the name of your new folder and then click on save.
I label my folders for online networking groups and forums as:
Daily
Bi-Weekly
Weekly
Bi-Monthly
Monthly
Any forums that I want to visit daily, will go into the daily folder. This also holds true for any forums that I personally own or forums that I moderate on.
For forums that have lower activity, but yet enough activity for me to want to invest two visits per week, I put those in my bi-weekly folder.
For forums that have low activity or forums that don't have enough interest for me, those I drop into the bi-monthly or monthly folders.
I also have topic specific folders such as:
Recipes and Cooking
Articles
General Chat
Business
Medical and Health
Crafts and Scrapbooking
Parenting
As I join forum boards and networking groups, I bookmark them into the appropiate labeled folders.
Sit down and make a list of folder names that will benefit you and help you to sort through all of your online networking group links. As you make your next round of forum visiting, bookmark them into the new folders that you have just created.
Now when you are online and want to visit your online networking groups, everything will be organized. If you have just one hour to spend that day, you will want to visit those in your daily folder. If you have a few hours to spend that day, you can go into your bi-weekly folder once you are done with your daily folder. When I have a lot of free time on my hand, that is when I go into my monthly folder.
Networking on forums is not about hitting every forum every day. What it is about is being consistent whether that is on a daily basis, weekly basis or monthly basis.
