OK, about three or four weeks ago I decided to try to quit my several-a-day Pepsi habit. In addition to objecting to the continually increasing price, I was motivated by the desire to cut out the unnecessary calories. Drinking four or five a day must add up to close to 1000 calories. If I could cut out Pepsis, I'd be way healthier and probably lose weight.
Yeah. That was the plan.
Well, it didn't work. First of all, it ruined lunches, snacks and dinners for me. A lot of food demands Pepsi (or beer, but that's another story). Water just isn't an acceptable substitute.
I was sure after two or three weeks of no Pepsi I would lose weight. Nope. I gained three pounds. Which is really strange because I totally cut out a lot of snacks (potato chips, crackers, etc) just because they suck without a Pepsi.
Then there's the issue of price. You used to be able to buy a Pepsi Cube (24 cans) for $4.99. Lately the price has gone up to $5.99 or more when it's on sale. And it's more difficult to find it on sale.
But Pepsi must have heard about my plans because within a week of starting my plan every ad for every store in every newspaper I read had Pepsi on sale for $4.99.
Pepsi plays hardball!
OK, well, it was a noble effort but I'm throwing in the towell. I just have to accept I'm Pepsi's b***h.
My wife says just have 1 a day. That's probably a more realistic goal than zero. In reality, 2 is probably the absolute minimum...one with lunch and one with dinner. I probably could get by occasionally with one, so I'll make an effort to do that.
In any event, I guess I'll be buying some Pepsi today. Now that I've caved, I can almost guarantee nowhere will have it on sale today.
