Heres your chance: Critics of President Barack Obama's handling of the economy are planning nationwide "tea parties" Wednesday -- and not for the sake of polite conversation. Coast-to-coast demonstrations against Obama's big-spending economic stimulus package are promised for the day that is also the deadline for filing federal income tax returns. news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090414/pl_afp/uspoliticstaxprotest_20090414142551

Where's the criticism for his big spending that there was when Bush did it?
The hypocritical nature of (R) vs (D) is what urks me the most. Obama has said and is doing so many of the same things Bush did, yet we hear nothing from those who blasted Bush.

Isn't that the point of these tea parties? Protesting the spending?

Right. But during Bush's spending, every left & right wing talking head was in front of a mic or camera cursing him for HIS spending. Now you can hardly find a left winger condemning Obama for the same thing. Even that article speaks almost entirely of Republican/Conservative protestors. I'm referring to those we see & hear on TV & radio every day. We heard them loud & clear then, but not a peep now.

I don't listen to any of them so I wouldn't know what the heck they say or don't say. I think they all suck, R, D and inbetween.
I did see a video last night someone sent me of the biggest redneck gathering I have ever seen regarding a tea party. Some woman screaming don't send your kids to college, it brainwashes them. Same for books, all books, then she said well those brainwashing college books ( I sure was ready to chuck the calculus at one time) oh and she couldn't name one- just those brainwashing books should be burned and it went on and on. I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry. I would love to see a poll of how many of them were married to their cousins... oh and the kickers, 1-Dinosaurs never existed, the evidence was put her by satan to test their faith, another example of how all schools are brainwashing our kids. Um okay. 2- Keeping your kids from knowing about these things means they are more likely to vote republican as adults??? I sure hope this is an isolated thought, keep em uneducated and ignorant so they will vote our way? huh? Again I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry.

You're 100% right.. here is my take on it: We have all been raised to believe that if we just vote, we can make a difference. It's up to US how we want our Country run. Yeah right.. first we saw the whole voting system fail with the Florida "hanging chad" fiasco.. bull crap.. I firmly believe it was NO coincidence that the ONE state responsible for the mess was Jeb Bushes.. I also firmly believe in the Bush Crime Family theory. So we get another chance.. We vote and this time we actually win.. probably because there wasn't a "Bush" running. Do we see change? Nope.. we see MORE spending and in inappropriate places.. My mindset at this point in time.. if voting for change doesn't work, what does? What can we do except wait for the other shoe to finally drop.. and it will. My guess... we have just given up, we can't fix it, we can't change it.. There is SOMETHING in politics that us little people don't know or don't understand.. otherwise.. WHY aren't the things we voted for happening.. ever? Yes I sound like a conspiracy theorist... so be it.

Every once in a while I break out my copy of Behold A Pale Horse. And no, it's not a religious text. It was written by William Cooper, a former member of the U.S. Naval Intelligence Briefing Team. Yes, it's full of his own conspiracy theories, some of which are pretty far out there, but many are (in my opinion) believable and quite conceivable. So do I have conspiracy theories of my own? You're dang right I do.
Something that opened my eyes about his book and convinced me he wasn't just some loony. It was published in 1991. In it he said that on New Year's Day, 2000 several high level politicians, to include George H.W. Bush (I can't remember the others) would be at the Pyramids of Giza for a millennium celebration. While there, a golden "All Seeing Eye" would be placed as the cap to the Great Pyramid. The "All Seeing Eye" is said to be the symbol of the secret society, the Illuminati.
A few months later I was reading a copy of US Magazine while waiting to get my haircut. This particular issue had an article about what some celebrities did for the Millennium. It mentioned several were in attendance in Egypt at the base of the Great Pyramid. One of them was George H.W. Bush. If I'm not mistaken, there were more actually there who were mentioned in "Behold A Pale Horse." My jaw dropped. Now I can't say for sure that a golden "All Seeing Eye" was placed atop the Great Pyramid, although I don't think it was, but how in the world did William Cooper know these people would be there 9 years before it happened? Coincidence? Sure, could be, but I know there's so much more to our Govt. than we could possibly imagine.

I just loved all the tea bagging comments. We're going to teabag this and that. All these folks calling for tea bagging before they looked up the definition in the "Urban dictionary", it really gave the more liberal talking heads a great deal to snicker at.
I remember Ron Paul had a tea party during his run for President, and some of the more vocal libertarians, are complaining their ideas are being co-opted.
So far I can't get a straight number on attendance. The caught Neil Cavauto of Fox News actually lying about the number with one of those mini cam shots. Seemed like there were many different things being protested about depending on where you were. Way to many racist posters though, a bunch still questioning Pres. Obama's birth certificate, and some other over the top stuff.
And in DC some idiot threw a box of tea over the White House fence. The Secret Service closed that one down fast.
Taxes suck, there is no doubt, but I sure would hate to give up my libraries, parks and interstate highways. I hope the new administration comes through on simplifing the tax code. (not holding my breath) But I must say it is always nice to see folks getting out and doing something to get their leaders notice when they feel strongly about something.

I thought everyone was saying these protests were bi-partisan? I guess they were snickering at their own fellow liberals as well.So far I can't get a straight number on attendance. I'm not sure what numbers have to do with anything, other than being able to take a shot at Cavuto & FoxNews. Whether it's 5 or 5000, a protest is still a protest. Taxes suck, there is no doubt, but I sure would hate to give up my libraries, parks and interstate highways. These protests weren't organized in order to condemn ALL taxes. No one is saying that. If anyone used these "tea parties" to get that point across, they did it on their own & weren't part of the consensus. Otherwise it's nothing more than spin.
"Oh look at those darn Republicans protesting taxes. I guess they don't like schools & roads."

Well I thought protesting taxes was the point, not an anti Obama protest, but some of the signs I have seen are just down right sickening and disturbing.

"Oh look at those darn Republicans protesting taxes. I guess they don't like schools & roads." There were not many calls of bi-partisanship in these protest. They were a mixed bag, I know that. Mine was a simple comment on the unintentional (I hope) ribald slang of tea bagging I was commenting on. Lighten up . In my post I applauded protesters standing up for what they believed, or did you not read that far. As for Neil, he lied, after getting the count from his own guy of 5000 Neil not minutes later lied to his viewers that the crowd was at least double or triple that number (all caught on video). The day before Neil also said that Fox was impartial and they cover all such protests like they did with the Million Man March. Fox didn't cover that one, they didn't exits for another year and as Neil is a founding member of the Fox fraternity he lied again. My point is that he lied, he didn't misstate, he didn't make a mistake, he lied. Niel Cavuto, lied on air twice in two days, but he does that. That's all I was pointing out. Many issues found a home on Tea day, also too much blatant bigotry reared it's ugly voice. But that speech is protected, as it should be, I don't have to like and I can comment on it. Don't re interpret what I say just because you don't like it. Disagree with it, fine. The corporate sponsored, Dick Armmy, Fox News backed protests picked and odd turn of phrase with "Tea Bagging", I found it amusing. ;D And actually the "No Tax society" was represented at many of the rallies. They do not believe in taxes of any type. So were the anti busing groups, states rights groups and the everyone in Washington is a Socialist groups. It was a wonderful mixed bag. Fun day all around. But in my opinion, peaceful protest is a beautiful thing and should be practiced and cherished.
