In my area, tonight's episode is the one where Homer gets medical marijuana. Some truly hilarious bits in this one! ;D I definitely would put this on my Top Ten Simpsons Episodes list.

Ohhhh I haven't seen that one... Not to date myself but I remember when The Simpsons started and everyone was up in arms about how it was NOT meant for kids but targetting kids..
Had to laugh when dd was giving birth.. through labor she was watching Family Guy... Now while I was a bad mom and let my kids watch The Simpsons, they do NOT get to watch Family Guy.. well obviously she gets to since she an adult.. Anyway.,.. she was insistent it was an okay show and she would be letting her kids watch it... umm yeah we will see...
Of course since I let HER watch the simpsons when she was little it can't be any worse right?
Again... Umm yeah we will see.. ROFL

I used to be a die hard Simpsons fan but haven't watched 'em for years. I started watching them when they were on the Tracy Ullman show. They sure did look a lot different back then.
I've watched pieces of the Family Guy here & there but never got into it. I definitely think they are more "adult" than the Simpsons.
I don't watch Spongebob either, but it has a lot of innuendos that I don't think are appropriate for kids. Usually the kids don't even understand them, but I know first hand that it does cause them to ask the meanings of things they don't need to know about.
I prefer King Of The Hill, watch it all the time. I think it's geared more towards adults, but fine for kids at the same time.

I finally quit watching new episodes a couple years ago, too. I never saw them on Tracey Ullman, but I watched the series from the beginning of its run.
I particularly enjoy the early episodes because of how differently the character were drawn back then. Not only were they drawn differently, the animation was totally different-- way better!
I first discovered Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons) through his comic Life In Hell cartoon series that runs in alternative newspapers. Along with Lynda Barry, he's one of my favorite cartoonists.
Anyone know Lynda's work? Her strip is called Ernie Pook's Comeek. Lynda is an incredible storyteller and her strip recaptures the tragic magic of growing up in the 60s. I highly recommend you check her stuff out. Crudely drawn, perhaps, but often heart-breakingly deep emotionally.
As for Family Guy, it's WAY WAY more adult that The Simpsons. I love the show, but I'd be the first to admit it gets pretty raunchy! I can't believe it when third and fourth graders tell me their parents let them watch it. On the other hand, if I was in third or fourth grade, I know I'd love it, so *LOL*

Any idea of the title of the episode or which season it was? I searched YouTube for Simpsons and Medical Marijuana and found about 2 minutes of Homer getting high. Outstanding! I like when Dr. Hibbard busts out the prescription pipes and asks if he wants the Wizard or the Skull. Hysterical! I want to see the rest. ;D

I have never watched The Simpsons, Family Guy, SouthPark or King of the hill. My kids are not allowed to watch them either.

I love King of the Hill! Watched the Simpsons a long time ago but other than the Halloween ones I haven't seen it in years. I don't watch the Family Guy, it's disturbing.
