Connie your post on the blowout win made reminded me of what my kids' school did this last year. We got a letter saying no one would win any of the track and field events. That all the kids would get a participation certificate? This upset me greatly. I was a horrible athlete in school but I always participated to see how I would do. I hate to say this, but when I got the letter I did nothing. This year, I think I will complain. Not everyone wins--I just don't understand this logic. Jaci

I think the schools are taking that "we are all winners" a bit far. You should be able to have winners, and losers, while still giving atta boys to all those that tried.
I was in sports most of my life. I was pretty good. I was always picked for teams. I worked hard at it. I also had parents that would have kicked my butt if I ever were to lord that over any other kid.
I also got beat sometimes, I knew who could beat me. I still was told to show up and do my best. Win or lose, I showed up. That is what kids need to know. Some win, some don't but if you don't show up you really lose.
