So I decided to look into selling an item, and tried to figure out what it would cost me to use eBay. Under their Selling Tutorial I found the following fees: - $5.00 Address Verification (Recommended even if you have a PayPal Premier or Business account)
- $0.10 - $4.00 listing fee
- Unknown Fee for Additional Options i.e. Buy It Now or Reserved Price
- Final Value Fee - an unspecified "small" percentage of the final price of the item.
- Shipping - most items I see that people bid well on have Free Shipping, so the seller pays.
I have no way to accept Credit Cards. If the buyer uses PayPal, then PayPal will charge me an additional 5% of the funds transfered. Which means they charge you 5% on the shipping, if you do decide to charge. Am I missing anything? I am really annoyed because eBay bought PayPal and I view this as double charging their sellers. So now I am off to research CraigsList...

They are also going to have an ebay like operations. I am probably going to test it myself with some old comics I have. You don't have to be a member. When I get the particulars would you critique it for me.
I will PM you if you have the time.

You just about summed it up. That's why so many people quit selling. It used to cost me around .50 to list an item... not it's just not worth it.
As for the paypal thing.. if you DO happen to upgrade so you can accept credit cards.. it doesn't matter if the money comes from a sale or from your grandma.. it still gets dinged.. AND you can't downgrade.. Im still having a portion deducted everytime I cash out with survey sites and use paypal.

The site is still got some glitches to work out, I will get back to you when it is running on all cylinders.
Admin says:This is a limit of the Internet, not us. Anytime a new domain goes live, it must first "propagate" around the Internet before it can be accessed by all.
Our IT staff believes that it's probably 90% propagated now, so keep trying. Could you give it a try tomorrow
