[glow=red,2,300]SPOILER ALERT !![/glow] We went to see this on Christmas. If you are going to see this & don't want to know what happens...... hit the back button !! Yes, it was a good movie. I think the kids were bored. We enjoyed it more than they did. That was until a certain part of the movie. The part where you knew the dog was going to die. Thats when 8 people got up and left. Others were sniffling. The woman in front of us was sobbing. Now my hubby keeps teasing me about making the kids cry. Really only my son cried. I hate when I take the kids to see whats billed as a "family feel good movie" and someone DIES !! Of course the reviews are in todays newspaper. They give it away.

I have not seen this because I had a lab that I loved dearly. She was an incredible dog although not quite as bad as Marley. My mom gave me the book a couple of years ago and i couldn't even read it until this past October-I cried my eyes out when Marley had to be put to sleep it reminded me of having to do the same to my lab-she was 14 and had fluid around her heart and lungs-nothing that we could do. i loved reading it though, labs are really funny dogs and so loyal!

We were going to go see this Sat. night but I found out tonight (not here) that Marley dies. We had considered taking our boy but a friend of ours, who read the book, wanted to let us know the ending so we could make a better decision as whether to take him or not. So now I have no desire to go. Not because it's sad but because I know the ending. I'm not forking over the cash to see it in the theater when I know the ending.
Do they at least get a new puppy? Most dog movies, when the dog dies, end with the reveal of a puppy.

Bummer! What a rotten ending. Modern day Old Yeller I guess.
Can't really afford movies in theaters so I've decided to wait till this one comes out on DVD and see if my dad wants to go see Gran Torino next week. He's a big Eastwood fan and it looks good.

I would NEVER see it as I cry at everything. My DD is going to see it tomorrow. She is a big bawler like me, but handles it better LOL! She has read the book so she knows what to expect. Did you know that the dog in the film that played Marley ended up having something wrong with it? I don't remember exactly what it was, but the poor thing can't walk and must be carried around. They found out during filming and the author of the book ended up adopting it! Jaci

We broke down and went to see it with some friends last night. I'm glad I did. Despite the ending it was a really good movie. Funny & fun. But I can't help but feel like it's a bit of a kick to the groin to have such a happy, feel-good movie and end it that way. I'd still recommend it. May not be the best movie for younger kids though.
Curly, do you know which one ended up sick? They had to have used more than one.

me either, I will ball like a baby. I prefer to do so in the privacy of my own home where only hubby will be unable to hear the rest of the movie over my sobs, lol. I'm still a bit raw from my baby dying last summer not even sure I want to see this one.

Hey I didn't find out about it here. Spoiler alert was smart of you to do. I read about it, and the dingo didn't put a SPOILER ALERT on it. Your a smart person.
