I am sure you have all heard the news reports about the 2 border agents, Compos and Ramos who, in 2006, shot a drugsmuggler at the border while he was trying to escape, in return our government gave the drug smuggler a free ride to not be prosecuted to testify agaisnt the border agents!
recently in the news, Pres. Bush pardoned some more drug runners, and other criminals, and still refuses to pardon the 2 border agents for doing their jobs!
You can help, go to grassfire.org, sign up for free, and sign the petiions to ask Pres. Bush to pardon them before he leaves office.
If you are concerned about illegal immigration go to numbersusa.com, sign up for free, and then send FREE faxes, that are already typed up for you, via their system, to help support the fight against illegal immigration.

I don't know the case, but maybe they are being punished for failure to do their job properly. If the situation waranted use of deadly force, then that is what should have been used. I feel that the Border Patrol program is at fault, and its agents should be given better firearms training. This will ultimately result in less repeat offenders crossing the borders, and saving taxpayer dollars involved in returning them to their country.
My reasoning follows: Problem - It is against the Geneva Conventions of War to use a heavy machine gun against enemy personnel, and you can use it only against equipment. Solution - Aim for shirt buttons or belt buckles.
Have a nice day! ;D

I know the case a bit and it is a messed up one. The one officer came upon his partner already down and bloody. He shot the suspect (drug runner) after a pursuit of some kind that was not "procedural". The perp came to the river and turned, the officer saw something shiny and fired.
The DA is quite the grand stander too. Everything the agents said he seem to take as a lie. But there was evidence of cover up as well.
The perp was trash, the officers did not use correct procedure. It is hard to judge on the evidence that was out there for the public to read. I do know it's hard and scary out there on the border.
I have worked with my share of illegals (Construction, shoot me, that is the way it was) It is a nightmare journey doing the crossing.
Saying all that, I can't believe President Bush will not pardon them before he is done. Or maybe he just likes to pardon crime committed by people above a certain pay grade.
This time I think the officers should have been shown more mercy and understanding from the courts. It did not add up to the type of case where the patrol officers were the bad guys.
I know they (or at least one of them) lost an appeal. One was beaten up in jail. And I know they have applied for pardon. If not they intend to go to the US Supreme Court.
It is funny that these two guys had to worry about protecting a perps 4th amendment rights while President Bush had all but erased that right everywhere else.
Oh well thats my take on it, I haven't decided yet if I am going to sign the petition yet.

They were the last pardon made by President Bush. And it was well past time that he did so.
