My family and I watched the sentencing for OJ Simpson today. The spousal unit and daughter thought that the judge was rambling on way too long, before giving her decision. However, I think the judge had to clearly explain her reasoning in deciding the sentences, as she knew that the defense lawyers were going to appeal (first thing they asked for after the sentencing was for bond until they appeal - which she immediately denied). Even though there were Nicole Brown's family members in the courtroom, I think the judge made it very clear that she ruled on the evidence presented for this case only. Making a successful appeal very unlikely But this is just my opinion.

If your take on it is correct (I didn't watch)... good for that judge! I hope she made sure there was very little to appeal on. The evidence in this case seemed pretty clear cut and Im personally of the belief that justice was NOT served in the criminal murder case.

I caught the sentencing by walking by the TV at just the right moment. I was fasinated by the diliberation. Nothing like on television. I agree that the judge had to make clear her thought processes and legal mindset as to make any overturn on appeal unlikely. It was actually Ron Goldman's Dad and sister in court. All those objects that OJ wanted back are in fact the property of the Goldman's for retrival for the civil judgement against OJ. OJ was quoted as saying he did not want the Goldman's to get their hands on his stuff. Wild goings on in Vegas don't cha know.

No one should be above the law, although this is not always the case. With the overwhelming taped evidence, I didn't think he had a chance of acquital. I am in total agreement of the denying of bail pending the outcome of of an appeal. Where would be the justice in that There are a lot of people who have been convicted and are awaiting appeals. They are not roaming around free on bail. However, celebrities and politicians are held to a different standard. "Oh, the food upset my stomach" and the judge gives house arrest Presidents are caught being adulterous, and there are no charges BAH!

I was glad for the sentencing. "I didn't know it was illegal" is just not an excuse for theft with a gun in hand
