Yep they are and thinking about it... The one thing we are blessed with here is that we have the "grocery store doctors".. doctors clinics in some of the Albertsons.. for basic health care, colds, sinus infections, flu, etc.. you can get medical care for $45 (flat fee)...
I would like to know WHY I can't take Katie to her regular doctor when she has an ear infection and have it cost the same.. why if we go to her regular doc does the SAME thing (even a basic checkup) cost $145?
That's what Im talking about.. health care costs are ridiculous.. insurance... forget it..
The $45 can be a strain but trust me... I am VERY thankful that I have that option.. I can usually come up with it, but if she is sick and I know it's going to cost me $145, I truly have to make a call.. Is it possibly going to cost her life?

Oh its hard. When you have to make a judgement call on if they are sick enough for the 175.00 visit. Last time my kids got sick I had to take them all in. and they wont see them all at once. it was that for all 4. each. BEFORE lab tests
I knew pretty much what was wrong with them. So I went to my old stand by. a Dr that is about 93, (not really, but he is in his late 70's. at least. he delivered my mom. ) He charged me 75 for all 3. wrote one script and gave the break downs on what to give them. it was 27.00
They had west nile.
Then the other day Matt needed 2 teeth pulled. but had an infection. that was 60.00. for the visit. the RX was 184. I told Eric (the pharmacist) it wasnt gona happen. So he called back the DR. She gave another that was 73. again I said NO. her last 'offer' was 52.00 for a differnt one. Oddly enough, I recognized the name of the first two from the pen and the clipboard in her office.. I asked him to ask for the same thing they had before. the 27.00 one. He tried. She said no. I got the 52.00 one. when I went back to get the teeth pulled it was another 165.00.
BUT in all honesty, even if I had paid the top prices for all of that, it was cheaper than buying insurance. LOL I know that with out it, if you have a major catastrophe you are screwed. but heck, in my expierience they find a way to drop you anyway if its a private plan, so.....
