I'm wanting (needing) to start exercising. I've let myself go and I'm really embarrassed by it. I have good intentions but never follow through with them. I just wanted to see what everyone else does to get started and stay motivated. Thanks!

My boyfriend joined a gym- with paying every month, and money being tight, we won't waste the money by paying and not going. And, actually, once we got into it, we really enjoyed it! It also made us both happier and more energetic, which can never hurt! Best of luck to you!

you have to force it out of yourself. Personally I am starting back with the Winsor pilates 20 minute workout, and a yoga workout a couple times a week for flexability and peace of mind (despite being a workout it is rather relaxing) ... it is very easy to follow and it goes at a nice slow pace so it doesn't feel threatening to me. You have to start small with something you are comfortable with. A walk around the block, gradually increase it as you go. If you don't and you start to hard it is very easy to get discouraged and not keep it up. I need a push... Yesterday I put notes on the cupboard and the fridge that say are you really hungry? go do some sit- ups instead... lol. Sounds dumb but it works for me, makes me think twice before munching. Oh and I banned ALL eating in front of the tv or thumbing through a magazine... I force myself to sit at the table and focus just on eating. I know I personally tend to eat way more when I am doing something else. I now have a picture to motivate me. Hubby took a picture of my daughter getting on the school bus (I walked her to it) and when I saw it my first thought was who's ass is that? then of course I realized it was my own

So many false starts. I know exactly where you are at. I wish I knew the magic bullet, but I know one thing, don't give up. Try to tie it to something you like to do. short walks can always get longer. Watch the fit channel if you have it on cable.. you could just follow along with some of the work outs shows in the mourning.. Good luck, know you are not alone and keep checking in.

For me, I joined a gym. I go almost every day. My goal is 7 days a week. I usualy make it 6 days a week. I also meet frieds for walks a few times per week.
Walking is wonderful exercise. Start with just 10 minute walks. Then work your way up gradually.
You can also walk in place. There are some great DVD's on the market that have you walking in place. Trust me, it works.
