Well, my Nana passed away this evening. She had a stroke a few months back...it was a very severe one, and the thing is, she was alone in her house for two days and no-one knew anything happened to her...mom had to break in to her house and found her on the verge of death. I had a feeling she wouldn't live very long after this, although she survived in a nursing home for a few months.
I live in Texas but I traveled to Connecticut (where I grew up) just to see her. It was awful. She couldn't move the whole right side of her body and could barely speak. She kept getting bad fevers and they wouldn't go away. She refused to eat or take medicine, and she would swear at and attack nurses who tried to make her eat or take medicine. She tried to attack my mom too and said terrible things to her. I think it was really because at this point she just wanted to die...and people were trying to keep her alive against her will...
Both of my grandparents are dead now. Nana had a stroke, and my other grandmother had schizophrenia and killed herself in a mental institution. It's just...a terrible feeling...I feel real depressed, I know I'll feel better eventually but it's just one of those things that makes you feel all numb and sad.

I am so sorry Cirrushawk, no matter how old you are losing parents and grandparents just hurts so much. I wish the ending could have been a more gentle goodbye for you Nana. Peace is with her now, and I hope your healing comes to you soon as you work out your feelings. Be well,

I am so sorry. Eileen is right, no matter how old we are it isn't easy and when it's hard on the person dying it's even worse. You are definately in my thoughts and prayers.

You are in my prayers. It is a blow when a close family member dies. I lost my little brother ( he was 21) in 99'. He was in the military and was killed in a training mission in Ft. Campbell KY. I stillcant deal with it and so many times I feel like I hate so many saying they are sorry-even if it is with good intent and I know it is. I guess it is part of the healing. Time heals all wounds. You be strong and let God lead the way!
