Hello! I am the new kid around here I have never done mystery shopping or dealt with any of the companies. I would love to hear from some of you that have done it to know what you had to do, how often you are asked to do it, and if you are signed up with a lot of the groups listed here. Please feel free to point me to a different thread of all of this has been written about before. Thank you! Katie

Hi, Katie: It's actually been a couple of years since I did Mystery Shopping, but it was fun when I did it! I am from northern Alberta, Canada - a smaller town. So, that meant my local opportunities were limited, and that's a good thing because everybody knows everybody and they would know something was up with MY poker face (not!) But I did travel to other towns several times. Mystery Shopped at restaurants and got free meals. Even got to test drive new cars - it was great! I got paid for mileage but after a while, I didn't like having to travel out of town to do it, so I stopped applying for the available mystery shops and eventually fell off the list. Fun while it lasted! GT

I decided to try mystery shopping about 5 years ago, to help cover just the cost of driving to the store.
I am now a full time mystery shopper and LOVE it! It is like any other business, you get out of it what you put in to is. I spent lots of time signing up to every company I could find.
If you are willing to put forth the effort and are well organized, you can actually make some money at this. Since I do not have a job outside my home, this has been a wonderful opportunity for me.
With gas prices skyrocketing, I am having to become more controlled with what assignments I take as I live in a rural area and have to drive anywhere from 30 to 60 miles one way to get to shops.
Good luck!

I wish I could say I have experiences to report to you... but even though I've signed up for 5 or 6 sites, the only one I've even HEARD from was BzzAgent. I've filled out my profiles at each too, so it's not like I wasn't active. Unlike with the survey sites, I can understand why I might not be getting a lot of offers from the shopping ones: I'm from a small "city" (@ 10,000) in upstate NY... not a ton of places to even mystery shop at. I may try out the PPC/PTR sites for a few extra cents, but for now I'm only making any real money off of one PTS site. I hope your mystery shopping experiences are going well though! Have a great one. -Dan-O

Thank you all for your responses. I have been getting invites from a few of the companies that I signed up for but have yet to participate. I signed up for a McDs one, but then after printing out the ton of paperwork and seeing the $7.50 they were offering, I declined. With gas the way it is now, that probably would have just covered that. I did tell them gas prices were the reason I had chosen not to do it. I thought this was for me, but maybe it is not.
For those of you who have been doing this awhile and are successful, keep going. Just wonderful.
I will write later if anything changes.

I used to work for Service Intelligence. The website used to be www. secrectshopnet.com but now it changed to www.experienceexchange.com. I really enjoyed working for them. I did it for about a year. I used to shop Olive Garden and Mc Donald's the most. The one thing was that you had to pay for your meals up front and then you would get paid back at the end of the month plus you get money for shopping them. I didn't make a ton but it was a fun job!
