McCain said the "R" word!

Contradicting President George W. Bush's statement yesterday, McCain said the U.S. economy has worsened.

``I believe we are in a recession, I believe the numbers indicate that,'' he said.

I'm confused...why is this controversial?

Because they have been saying forever that we are not heading for a recession. Bush just said so himself... however a LOT of people believe that we are already in a recession and have been for awhile and are actually heading towards another depression... The govt refuses to admit it.
