Now we are back to the "radon/mercury/carseat" discussion..
Many many moons ago, I remember Stouffers or Banquet or one of those companies used to sell turkey/gravy or beef/gravy in these little plastic bags that you boiled and I loved those things.. no mess, no fuss.. boil them, cut them open and dump them on a slice of bread.. voila.. instant lunch..
My grandmother and myself took the whole mess a step further and after holiday dinners we threw our own meals together in big plastic bag (this was many moons ago so before freezer bags).. froze them and did the same thing.. tossed them in a pot of boiling water or even better, the microwave..
Then we had all the warnings about plastic and the chemicals leaching into your food.. so we not longer have those great little turkey and gravy packets that I loved so much..
What do we have now? Ziplock steamer bags... Glad steamer bags.. Freezer bags.. etc... Let's not forget the Birdseye steamers and the Green Giant steamers...
Do they have some magic plastic that doesn't leach into our foods? Maybe they do... but come thanksgiving.. I will be throwing turkey, stuffing, and gravy all into a bag and freezing it so I can throw it into a pot of boiling water.. or even the microwave for a later date..
Yeah.... you can all come to my funeral and say "told ya so"... but in the meantime.. I'm fighting against the plastic leaching into my food websites.. At least until I get my turkey/gravy in a bag back.
