GT,
As an article writer, I have never used PLR articles. They're not accepted in directories and to be honest, often I can write a better article than some of the quality I've seen.
Now, having said that, those thoughts came pre blog days. I think I see myself changing gears a bit on this topic Not all PLR sellers are the same.
Hi, Audrey:
Very good points, and so true! I can relate exactly.
I joined my present PLR provider in September and never used even one of their articles until months later! As a writer, I found it a bit offensive to consider using somebody else's material. And as you said, you cannot use PLR in article directories, unless you substantially rewrite it. I wouldn't recommend that risk to novice or nervous writers.
Then, one day, I wanted to write a blog post on a topic and simply did not have enough experience or insight to produce it properly. I could have gone to the Net and done some research ... but then I remembered my PLR provider!
I downloaded a couple of related articles, then just picked out some of the key points and used them as the basis for an article written in my own words.
So, that's what I do from time to time: use the PLR material as research notes.
However, I do know of numerous Internet Marketers who rely on PLR material for their blogs and newsletters. In most cases, they do try to change up the wording a bit. You know, personalize it. But in some cases, I know they just print it word-for-word.
Just one option that's out there for those who might benefit from it. As a "purist," I found it hard to start using PLR, but I write so much material these days and I have so little time, so it really does cut down the time necessary for research (you still want to fact check, though, and not just take the PLR writer's word for everything!)
