I have used it for thing in my town but I also try to keep it in perspective.. There are a lot of scammers on it simply because there are SO many people using it.. however there are a lot of legit people on it too. What do you want to use it for? That might make it easier to give you legitimate advice.

I listed my crib mattress just for giggles, and a lady bought it the next day (today)! I like that its free, so I will try to use it along with ebay and save myself on the fees. We are also looking to adopt a new dog. We have a 1 1/2 old dog that needs a friend. We want a yellow lab that's between 1-3 yrs. I have been looking on Craig's list for our new edition too.

Congrats on getting the crib mattress sold! One word of advice on the puppy... be very careful... it's the most bizarre thing but there are a LOT of doggy scams and I primarily hear about them being on craigslist.. Im sure it is fine to use it to buy a dog in your town where you can actually see it and buy it directly but watch out for the ones that want to ship you the dog.

ship a dog? crazy! We are proceeding with caution for lots of reasons. I want a little older dog bc I don't want to have to potty train while having a newborn. Plus I don't want to pay a lot if anything at all bc we are doing the "challenge". No, really we are seriously committed to being debt free ... BUT at the same time I want a good healthy dog and I don't want to get one from the humane society out of fear because of a new baby. It's all confusing, so I don't know what we will do.

I was just thinking.. I found my dog on freecycle. He was about a year old, potty trained, all his shots, neutered etc. It was great and I was able to see him and talk to the owners before deciding and of course he was free..
