I'm thinking about trying ebay as a source of income. I want to start as a low cost/high volume seller. I'm not sure exactly what I want to sell but that's something I figure I need to find out on my own but the other is I don't know where to get the product. Do I try to find deals on ebay itself and resell what I find or do you guys know of wholesalers that are available? Better yet, are there companies out there that will front the items for you and you can sell them and earn a percentage of the sale? Anything you can offer about full-time ebaying is hugely appreciated.

There are dropshippers out there but in all honesty I have never found a single person who did it succesfully. You will quickly lose your reputation if someone buys a product and then you are depending on someone else to get it shipped and they end up backordered etc. Quick way to make some enemies. There are also wholesalers but you need to be able to buy a huge quantity and put up a lot of money. There are some places that are more like middlemen between you and the wholesaler and they will sell in smaller quantities at a higher price. Quite honestly, the people I have seen have huge success on ebay just go to thrift stores, yard sales, etc and then resell. The best and right way to do it is to do a lot of research on the things that sell well and look for them. At one point I picked up a bunch of puzzles at a yard sale for .25 cents a piece and then found out that most of them were made by a company in big demand. I sold them for an average of $7 a piece. I picked up a framed picture for .50 cents and it sold for about $30, an old deck of advertising cards I bought for .25 cents sold for about $5. As you can see the return on your investment can be huge. I won't even go into the whole golf ball thing... it became my specialty. Just spend some time in ebay and look at the different brands of clothing that are sellign well, the different items that are selling well, and start hunting! One hint, keep in mind HOW you will ship an item before you list it... I have had some weird ones that were crazy to ship!

Thanks for the info, Connie. I think I've decided, since I'm somewhat of a guru on the subject, to build custom computers and sell them on eBay and have my room mate build me a nice website to supplement it and as an outlet for custom orders and technical support to customers who buy from me. I just need the funds to get it started. >=/
And since my girlfriend likes thrift stores and the like and already spends more time on eBay than makes me comfortable I might have her try that idea.
Ever had anyone proposition you? I mean about investing or partnering? Assuming you know where I'm going with this, just let me know.

Hmmm, you may be on to something. However I would need some kind of direct from manufacturer or somewhere I could get the parts really cheap for it to work.

Ebay really is the fastest.. I know.. you want to make money to sell on ebay.. What I mean is, just look around your house and in your garage and start listing.. you will be AMAZED at the money you can make for silly things.. One friend of mine got over $40 for a bag of yarn she had sitting in her garage!
