I found a set of records on ebay that I REALLY want. The auction ends in less than 24 hours. It's over 100 records for $25, but the shipping will be around $50. Still, that really isn't bad, the total of $75 would mean it is still less than $1 per record. But he doesn't mention the condition of the records. I emailed him a few minutes ago. However, if I don't hear back, would you go ahead and bid?

only if you won't mind if the records are scratched or at least expect that some of them will be. Does he have a return policy?

Here is what I would do: I just checked and there are a TON of different lots of records search.ebay.com/lot-lp-records_W0QQfromZR8QQfrtsZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1 They all seem to be running for about the same price you are willing to pay per record including shipping. I would buy seperate lots like this. That way you can pick and choose the genres you want etc and you won't take such a large risk with your money. I would hate to buy a lot of 100 records and find out that 80% are unplayable.

I found three sets that I want. A set of 47 Classical records, 34 Organ, and 40 or 50 something Jazz & Soul. All have kind of low starting bids, but they don't close until 3 or 4 days from now. It may just be someone new to ebay, but I have no idea what these kind of sets normally go for, but I'd get more records this way, and at a lower cost (as long as someone doesn't bid it up too far. I'd probably be better off waiting, but what if it goes too high for me to buy? [/b]

There is always next time! Sometimes if you pick stuff that is ending at off days or off times you get it a lot cheaper than the stuff that ends in the evenings and weekends.

Well, I let the really big set go, because my question on the condition was never answered. Now, I'm just going to try for the three smaller sets. [/b]

Samantha, do a 'similar items' search for completed listings only.

Thanks, Kelly! I'll do that. My father uses Andale, and I think they have a section where you can research prices. I may try that as well. [/b]

Smart move to let the bigger set go since he wouldn't answer you. That would make me nervous.

Well, 100-something records "WOULD" be heavy. Ohhhh. . . I found two Led Zepplin records. The classical set ends tonight, and I'm going to be gone. I guess I'll have to put a bid in, and hope for the best. [/b]

Well, I lost some and won some. I won a 47 record set of classical records, 7 set of Elvis (couldn't resist), three set of Led Zepplin, and six set of Mannheim Steamroller. There's one more set I'm waiting on, but it doesn't end for another three days or so. For a grand total (excluding the non-won set) of $71. [/b]
