Hopefully this is a shareable link:
I am writing because over a year ago you expressed interest in our University of Florida sponsored Work and Family couples study in which, contingent on performance over the longitudinal study, you and your spouse/ partner can individually earn up to $50 ($100 per couple). We have been asked by reviewers to collect additional data. As you were on our list of potential participants, I am hoping that you are still interested in participating. If so, please read over and respond to the following directions.
Please note the study requirements: To be eligible for this study you AND your spouse/ partner must:
(1) both be 18 years or older
(2) both work at least 20 hours per week between June 18 and July 6, 2007
(3) be living with your spouse/ significant other (each other)
(4) both be citizens of the United States with verifiable Social Security Numbers (if you want compensation)
(5) both be willing to participate in the study (including all portions of the study)
This is being sent to you using the emails you originally provided to us. Because the participation of both of you and your spouse is so important to our study, we ask that you verify with your spouse/ partner that you both remain interested in participating. If you are both interested, please review the information and fill out the short name/ email information form at:
www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=GdwYU7RAMFdP5X_2bSrktbTA_3d_3d
Please note that this study will include 50 couples. Participants will be accepted in the order they indicate interest and until 50 couples (both spouses/ partners) have indicated interest and completed the one-time survey. The link for the one-time survey will only be provided to participants invited to participate in the entire study.
Please also note that the University of Florida will verify your Social Security Number during the payment process. Therefore, both you and your partner must be citizens of the United States and will need a valid SSN to be compensated. The payment process, although more efficient now than a year ago, continues to take at least a month for payment checks to be mailed.
Again, if you have additional questions, please email Dr. Layne Paddock (layne.paddock@cba.ufl.edu).
Thank you for your interest in our study,
Dr. Layne Paddock
We include the following note because we are aware of instances in which participants who do not meet listed qualifications have attempted the study anyway:
• The study questions do relate to your work experiences: you are not eligible to participate and will have trouble answering these if you do not work more than 20 hours per week.
• Daily questions also ask about your spouse/ partner. These also are difficult to answer if you are not actually in such a relationship. Research also suggests that spouses answer these questions differently than each other, meaning it is difficult to answer as if you are your spouse/ partner.
• It is possible to tell from data provided when individuals try to 'fake the system. Daily surveys must be completed on the days you work (i.e., not all the same day) and individuals’ SSNs are required for compensation.
