Hi everyone, my name is Jay Fontaine and I live in Waukesha Wisconsin.
I am partially retired (not by choice!) and I run a video business out of my house. My business, Village Media Productions, specializes in: Restoring old home movies, 8mm film, Super8mm film, vhs, vhs-c, s-vhs and Hi8. We clean, re-colorize as needed, add sound, chapters, music and a whole lot more, all finalized on DVD!
I got started on this several years ago when the son of a friend of the family came to me and told me his dad was dying, that he had a life-time of memories on old movie film that he wished he could see again, that he wanted to share with the family. However, his projector was broke, his screen was in poor shape and the family was scattered across the US from coast to coast, was there anyway that, with my PC and photography background that I could help?
Without thinking I said"sure!", and this began a year long journey for me on the road to discovery. By trial and error, I developed my own processes. Unfortunately I did not get all converted prior to his death, but we did get a lot done and he said to his son, "Jay did it right" just before he passed.
I have since made this my "mission" in life, to help families preserve their cherished memories, share them with family and friends everywhere by giving them the best possible quality at the best possible price.
In the last two years I have converted over 10,000 feet of film, 6,000+ 35mm slides and restored numerous photo albums.
We also are now in the "Instructional DVD Business", if interested, please goto www.calawaygolfconcepts.com and check out the YouTube link on the "products" page. I did the web-page (first effort, such as it is), promo on YouTube and all production and editing on the actual DVD series.
Not to shabby for an "old F--T" sitting around his PC all day, even if I do say so myself. Besides, my wife of 40+ years knows I not getting into trouble, If ya know what I mean
I'm thinking about writing a blog about how I do what I do so that others can learn from my experiences and shorten their learning curve, or, at least know where to go without getting ripped of!
Thoughts, suggestions or ideas welcome!
Regards,
Jay F.
