Anyone else love this show?
Adam is a great host, and I find him fun to watch.
Last summer when I was doing a lot of surveys I participated in a study on the show. It took hours; participants had to watch several episodes of the show and provide feedback.
I'm pretty sure I didn't even get paid for it, but I was happy to do it nonetheless. I love that show!

DH watches it regularly. I watch it once in awhile. The thought of what he eats (i.e. 6 lb milkshake #1431# ), makes me nausea at times BUT, like Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives - I love seeing the hole the wall restaurants - I'd love to go on a cross county dive tour ;D.

I love most things on the food network, but I never got into Man vs Food............ I like Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, too! Right now my two favorite shows are Chopped and Dinner Impossible. The guy from Dinner Impossible does a lot of stuff in the Philadelphia area; my husband and I would love to be able to see him live - though I don't think that would ever happen!!

lindofree, i've had that same idea for a couple years now!
there are SO many great places i want to visit from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!
and the shows like Hot Dog Heaven, or Steak Paradise, and the various BBQ shows have left me with a huge list of places I simply MUST visit!
i have nieces and nephews entering college this year and my wife is already planning trips to go visit them. i told her that sounds good to me as long as we can fly to Chicago for a Super Dawg, and then continue on to wherever their school is. (plus, if i go through Chicago i'll be close enough to Indiana to drive over to OC's house, ring the doorbell and run!) (lol!)
i wish they would pick Virginia, Tennessee or South Carolina or someplace that has good food!!! one of them is considering Lehigh, which, if memory serves, is in Pennsylvania. that works for me b/c it's near Primante Brothers, the place with the big fat sandwiches stuffed with meat and french fries. i've got to try one of those!
linda, i agree, that Robert guy from Dinner Impossible is very entertaining. i'd love to see him in action, too. (although i couldn't work for the guy, i'm too pokey! LOL)

I really like Man vs Food too. But I disagree with jow (sort of). Yeah he's a husky guy but if you consider the amount of food he can put away in a single sitting, I don't think he's THAT fat. It's amazing, I have no idea where it all goes. I like Adam because he's worked all over the food industry and he's not just some guy they pulled off the street to pig out on TV. He really knows a lot about food & is very good at describing what something tastes like. I think the one I'm most impressed with was at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. 72 oz steak, potato & salad. What impressed me so much was that he had 1 hour to complete it and he did it in half that. (plus, if i go through Chicago i'll be close enough to Indiana to drive over to OC's house, ring the doorbell and run!) (lol!) Good luck with that, I live in Illinois. LMAO

yeah, that was intentional didn't want to start a stampede by telling everyone where you were but since you did, now you're probably in for it (you know i'm just kidding you, right? no one outside the midwest believes there's any difference between indiana and illinois except if you're playing Monopoly)

i'm more partial to the episodes of Man v. Food that feature Adam taking on the too-spicy foods.
some of the massive quantity of food challenges are kind of nauseating
how can someone eat 4 or 6 POUNDS of food?
i wonder if the guy uses hypnosis or castor oil or something like that? i also wonder if how often he suffers the dreaded 'reversal of fortune' after the episode finished taping
it looks like the Travel Channel is hip to how popular Adam is because they've spun off a new series for him
and now they have Food Wars, with a woman that pretty much copies Adam's demeanor

I watched when he was here in Boise.. He did Rockies Diner Challenge and also visited Big Judds even though he didn't do their challenge.. The ONLY thing I was disappointed in and not to spoil the show, but I do have a friend who has a daughter who was working at Rockies when he did the challenge.. If you didn't see it, it's a huge hamburger covered with chili and cheese and ham and other stuff, plus the chili cheese fries and a huge shake. They went and got GOOD chili for his challenge, not the stuff they usually use.
I was on the other hand thrilled to see Big Judds featured on the top 100 places to eat on some show they did. It was number 43. Even though Big Judds is just down the hill from my house I had never been there until after the Man vs Food episode. They have the BEST onion rings I have ever had and I was thrilled to see how they make their fries... The hamburger was pretty darn tasty too!

I like Man vs Food. It's an easy premise for a TV show, and it's just fun, mindless entertainment. With all the other cat-fighting reality shows or depressing dramas it's nice to just have something entertaining to watch. Plus Adam always makes every food sound mouthwateringly good even if it's not.

you're exactly right, hswhite!
there have been a few times where i thought the stuff wasn't that great, but Adam's enthusiasm and the way he engages the restaurant's staff/patrons draws me into the show anyway
it's definitely an upbeat show, and you can easily watch it while doing other chores/activities, if you have a mind to
i saw the Boise episode and i meant to ask you if you had been to the places, Connie. good onion ring places are solid GOLD in my book, so i'm happy you decided to check that place out b/c of the show
why do you think they changed the chili? maybe the original was less photogenic or something? i can't think of a good reason. (or was their chili lame or something?)
speaking of chili...
have you seen the Oklahoma episode where Adam is questioning the cook about his method of cooking his chili? the guy dumped all the uncooked ingredients in a huge pot, covered it with water. Adam asks something like, aren't you going to brown the meat or cook any of the ingredients? The guy says something like, Hey, I'm a TWO time state chili cookoff winner. LOL!

LOL.. Havent seen that episode but it reminds me of my former in-laws.. My ex fil is a fanatic about spaghetti sauce and taught me how to make it. I remember the day I came home from school and my former mil was making it.. she just threw the uncooked hamburger into the sauce.. Logic tells me it was going to cook since it's an all day sauce but I found it disgusting and asked fil about it.. he told me no.. that's not how it's done. To this day when I make the sauce I am tempted to throw the uncooked meat in but nooo I always cook it first..
As far as the chili on the show.. my understanding was that they used a less fatty chili?? I just have this on rumor but even though I watched the show and know the guy has an endless stomach.. I can't believe he did the challenge and won the guitar... hehe..
Now on the 100 top best places they had some food challenges that I think Adam needs to go try! One was a sandwich place.. it was something like 5 sandwiches in 30 mins to get one named after you and these things were HUGE...

oops, after i wrote the mention of the Oklahoma chili thing i remembered that was on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.
i seems weird to throw the hamburger in uncooked, but i've seen many other recipes like that, including some by Emeril
one of these days this summer i'm going to try that method
