Minnesota Vikings have Adrian Peterson as their #1 Running Back, Chester Taylor as their #2, and Ian Johnson slated as their #3. Considering that Minnesota is a running team, they need depth at the Running Back position. What happens if Adrian get hurt, and it all falls on Chester Taylor? They need the depth that Ian Johnson gives them, while he matures into a Pro Running Back. Nothing against Boise State, or even the fact that Ian Johnson broke Marshall Faulk's TD record, but it must be remembered that Ian is just a rookie, playing with the big boys now. He is an unknown quantity, and not many teams are willing to gamble on unknown quantities. That is why Ian Johnson wasn't picked in the NFL draft, and the Vikings signed him on free agency. Personally, I think that Ian can benefit greatly from where he is right now. He will study under two proven running backs, and also be put to work on special teams, where his speed will no doubt make him a great asset. I am not sure if he can take the physical punishment at the Pro level, as last year he had a collapsed lung that wiped out his possible Heisman consideration. Hopefully, he is healed and healthy. Stop picking on my Vikings!

Ummm where on earth did the collapsed lung come from? Not that I doubt you.. but we never heard anything about that! Well that I remember anyway..
I will NEVER stop picking on the Vikings.. they are also my step daughters favorite team.. I DO NOT LIKE THEM... sam I am.. (although I have to admit.. they have AWESOME colors!)

I did not see the game, so KansasCity will have to weigh in on this one. I don't really watch preseason, and the Spousal Unit only like to watch the Titans. I am really serious when I say that the Spousal Unit doesn't know anything about football. She has a mental block concerning the rules.

Well when you take in to account that many of the rules are stupid.. it's completely understandable. I can't tell you how many times I look at dh and say "what the heck was that about.. it made NO sense".. and then.. "well that's just not fair and it's really kind of stupid!" No no Connie, football and the Spousal Unit goes something like this: ************** SU: So why do they line up besides the ball? HFN: Actually, there are two lines, one offense and one defense, and they line up opposite each other with the ball in the middle. SU: No, there is only one line... HFN: No, two lines, see each team lines up next to another player from their team, and across from an opposing team player. SU: OK, but why don't they all line up in two lines? HFN: Because they play different positions. SU: What is a position? And the questions go on and on... Then the very next week, it starts all over: SU: So why do they line up besides the ball?

Louis, I feel your pain (in the rear!) My wife wants to know how many points they get if the score a homerun. You would think after 23 years of being with me and actually going to college games and now her son's games and watching football every weekend of the season, a few of the rules would rub off. Wierd.

ROFLMAO! Well now I don't feel so bad! My biggest misunderstanding is "holding" fouls. I don't understand how one person can be called on holding but the next person can do the same thing and it isn't called. Then dh says "well that wasn't "holding".. well then what the heck is holding?
There is another BIG one for me but I can't remember.. I will be sure to point it out this season when I see it again.

Holding happens on nearly every play but is only called when it is extremely obvious. Are you thinking pass interference, because with the way the rules are now a corner or saftey cant look cross-eyed at a receiver without it being a flag.

Are you thinking pass interference, because with the way the rules are now a corner or saftey cant look cross-eyed at a receiver without it being a flag. When playing against a really good receiver, we used to have a saying "Let them catch the ball, and then regret that they got up that morning". ;D The Vikings have the #1 Defense in the NFL Central North, and hopefully their offense is improved. I haven't seen where Ian is due to be cut.
