I'm not to sure about that. If the guy can still play and he gets on the field and tears it up, I guarantee that most of the fans will soon forget any past issues. Fans (short for fanatic) typically have very short memories. If you look at what some of the guys in the NFL have done criminally, you would be shocked. For the owners its just a business and if Vick can put butts in the seats, he stays, if not , he will be gone. I imagine there will be some initial protesters but they will eventually fade away and become noise in the backgroud, over powered by the fans cheering when Vick scores a TD. My personal feelings are that he lost a $30 million dollar contract, went to Leavenworth for a year and a half and was made out to be Satan incarnate. Time to move on. If he can play there will be a place for him in the league.

Ditto! He served his punishment without crying foul, whining, etc... If he ever plays well against against Denver, I know a lady who will still think of him as Satan incarnate!

He will NEVER play well against Denver... That's the butt of the joke actually.. He hasn't been cleared to play at all from what I understand.. They are paying big bucks for him to sit his butt on the sidelines and look ugly.. (he will never look pretty in my eyes)

While it is so true professional football players get away with doing very bad things and fans seem to forget when they are playing well. If they bring in money they can get away with murder and worse. In Vick's case I hope this will not happen. I hope people can see what this man did to defenseless animals was so truly tragic he should not be rewarded by playing pro football. I do not care how good he plays or even if he plays. He may just sit on the bench. Yes he did a little time. I do not believe enough time for his offenses. Animals and children seem to not count as much as adults in the criminal justice system. People hurt and abuse children and do not pay much of a price sometimes. Same with abuse toward animals. Abusng and killing dogs, is an offense I can not tolerate. This man has something deeply wrong and needs to think about it the rest of his life. I doubt a year in a Fed. prison took care of his issues. Or the money he lost. I feel this man is a very sick individual and would need a lot of professional help to change. If he can change this sickness he has. I truly hope the Eagles suffer for this and Vick has to leave Pro football. I feel very strongly about this issue of professional men in sports getting away with crimes. Money and fame does not make it ok.
I pray the fans and owners of any pro sports teams wake up and see how wrong this is and has been for many years.

Now this is putting your money where your mouth is! I bartend on Saturdays and if we quit serving Coors Light we would lose a LOT of money! SANDPOINT - The owner of a Sandpoint sports bar says fans of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and their new quarterback Michael Vick will have to go elsewhere to watch Eagles games www.ktvb.com/news/localnews/stories/ktvbn-aug2109-vick_bar.100e34f59.html

WOW, free advertising for his bar! There are other beers than Coors Light. I wonder what his sales actually are of all the other brands vs Coors. Now if Bob Seger said he was going to rename his back-up band, I would be much more impressed.

His sales are probably VERY high for Coors Light. In a way he is cutting off his nose to spite his face. I LOVE that he is standing up for what he believes in. I think he could do it differently. For instance, he could do something along the lines of "No Eagles Fans Allowed". We have a "No Lawyers Allowed" bar here in Boise that does great business.
By not televising the Eagles games he is leaving out the other teams. If my team happens to be playing against the Eagles, I want to watch the Eagles get buried.
As for not supporting the sponsors.. That's a tough one, money wise.. however maybe he has a great group of customers who will switch and drink something else. I hope so for his sake.

GOOD FOR THE BAR OWNER.
Connie I would like to see my team beat the Eagles also. But when I had the Eagles and Colts game on I turned the channel. I like the Colts but could not stomach watching the Eagles play. Will be interesting to see how the Vick thing all plays out. I was giving it a lot of thought after I posted. If Vick has a conscious maybe it will all get to him and he will not be able to play well. Stress from the pressure of it all. I just have a feeling this is not going to just go away. I think maybe to many people have very strong feelings about Vick playing football.
Well let's enjoy the football season.
I LOVE FOOTBALL.

Has he even been cleared to play yet? When they signed him he still wasn't cleared to play from what I understood. I haven't heard yet that he can play but I honestly don't keep up with the football news either.
I agree with you.. I think there are too many strong feelings against him and I've heard on other boards of long time Eagles fans switching teams.. I don't think it's going to play out well at all.

Connie I need to read up on what is going on with Vick and the Eagles. I thought my husband told me he was a third string quarterback for them and will not play. If I am going to post about him need to read up. I kind of wanted to pretend I had not even heard he was with the Eagles. I will get educated this week end.
Years ago I knew everything going on with football. Everything changes so fast now days is difficult to keep up. Not the good ole days.

Last week on Fox News Megan who does the morning show stated M Vick himself raped some of his dogs. As I am reading about Vick I am not finding that information. Just info on the rape stand used for breeding the dogs, When I posted about rape I was under the impression he had raped some of his dogs. I will research further but maybe Megan on Fox mis spoke on that. Pretty big mistake. Sure had me going. Torture and killing them was bad enough but raping them. Oh my. Now I have to figure out what the truth is.
I edited my posts using the word rape. I can not find a thing about Vick raping the dogs himself. I think all he did to them was bad enough without that being the case. Sorry I posted something that was not true. I am happy to read nothing about him doing that. Thank goodness he is not that sick. Guess I believed it because they say rape is used to express anger and control so it kind of fit with all he was doing to his dogs.

A dog rape stand is also known as a breeding stand, and is not necessarily an evil device, but I suppose it could be used for torturing the dog, as it will hold the dog fairly immobile.
The idea of the men all engaging in physical relations with the dogs is extremely far-fetched, and there was no claim that such an occurrence ever happened. Although, cases of relationships with animals are not unknown.
I have read articles where Mr. Vick's treatment of the dogs was comparable to raping women and children. Do you really think he was involved in the day to day handling of the fighting dogs? No, that was assigned to dog handlers he hired. Mr. Vick was at the top and just joined in for the actual fighting of the dogs and betting on the results. They tried to blame him for killing some of the dogs, but he only pleaded guilty to having a 'role' in his plea bargain, and not any actual killing.
I hope this settles some confusion.

Holy Crap! How did we get to dog rape?
My understanding is that at week 6 of the season, the NFL commissioner will make the decision on Vick's playing status. He could let him play the next week, extend the suspension or totally ban him from ever playing again. We will see.

I know it does seem Holy Crap is an appropriate response to Vick and all that has been said in the media. Seems it was the rape stand and how it was used that has caused a bit of confusion with the word rape. LOL
Well, all I have heard and what I read last night said Vick did participate in some of the torture.
Hmmm wonder what the truth is? Need to read the court transcripts I guess.
Havingfunnow Do you have a web site address for the info you posted saying Vick was not involved in the torture and it was the people who tended to the dogs. I searched the web and have read articles saying he was involved. I would like to know the truth about this entire ordeal with Vick and the dogs he had fighting.
