Starting June 1, 2009. All United States citizens wishing to enter/re-enter the United States from Bermuda, Canada, Caribbean regions, and Mexico will need more documentation than was previously required. Driver's licenses are no longer an acceptable form of identification. U.S. PASSPORT AND WHTI COMPLIANT DOCUMENTS: U.S. Passport (cost $100): U.S. citizens may present a valid U.S. passport to enter or re-enter the United States when traveling via air, land or sea from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Bermuda. U.S. Passport Card (cost $45): The passport card is only valid for re-entry into the United States at land border crossings and sea ports-of-entry from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Bermuda. Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)-Compliant Travel Documents for U.S. citizen travel via land or sea, as of January 31, 2008: CHILDREN: U.S. citizen children under the age of 16 will be able to present the original or copy of their birth certificate, or other proof of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization certificate or citizenship card. Groups of U.S. citizen children ages 16 through 18, when traveling with a school or religious group, social organization, or sports team, will be able to enter under adult supervision with originals or copies of their birth certificates or other proof of citizenship. See the Department of Homeland Security's GetYouHome for more information on the changing travel requirements. This only applies to entering/re-entering the United States, and travel to other countries may require other documentation. Have a nice day!

Good info Louis. If anyone is planning on doing any travel outside the U.S. it is just best to get the passport book for $100. My wife and I got ours last year and we got them in about 2 weeks. I got the kids passports this year and they took about 5 weeks to get here. They are good for 10 years and if you are under 16, they are good for 5 years. I heard a radio show and the host said that several middle east countries won't let you in if there is an Israeli stamp in your passport! His suggestion was to get a second passport that is valid for 2 years (I think) if you plan to go these countries.
