Recently some politician got heavily criticized for sending out postcards with a picture of watermelons growing on the White House lawn. This weekend the news shows the White House lawn being dug up for a vegetable garden.

It would have been easier if you had added "stupidity" to my list of choices. Personally I hope that politician gets his a** handed to him on a platter,
I read about the kitchen garden being prepared at the White House and thought "good going".. I don't know if they've ever had one at the Whitehouse but most of "regular folks" are growing them and we will see even more as the economy gets worse.
What on earth does the color of your skin have to do with your abilities? I know we still have a country full of racism but it's getting old.
Today I had two older guys (60's-70's) who ordered coffee. I asked if they wanted cream or sugar... the response was.. "just black, we can't have cream in our coffee since the election"... I seriously wanted to throw the coffee at them.

For the psychic part, I guess it would depend on what is getting planted. I did not approve of the postcard that was sent out, as it was in very poor taste. Had nothing to do with psychic phenomenon at all, but a sad racial stereotype. Although I don't like watermelon at all, my family loves it.

This weekend the news shows the White House lawn being dug up for a vegetable garden. Guess we'll be seeing news stories about what's being grown in "the National Garden" this summer. Oh boy, can't wait. Today I had two older guys (60's-70's) who ordered coffee. I asked if they wanted cream or sugar... the response was.. "just black, we can't have cream in our coffee since the election"... I seriously wanted to throw the coffee at them. I don't get it. I would think if they wanted to make a racial comment, they wouldn't say they can only drink their coffee black. People that old are from a different time. That doesn't necessarily make it right, but usually many of them aren't going to change the way they feel about it.

Connie, there was a time when there were cows grazing on the grounds of the White House, so I am sure that there were gardens growing vegetables. You used to be able to walk right up and knock on the door and get to see the President. Security was nonexistant until the early 1900's. OC-I was at the gym one day and I overheard this guy in his 80's talking. He was saying that when he was young, he was good at only two things-cowboying and killing Japs-I just smiled. After what he had been through-he had served under MacArthur in New Guinea-I could cut him a break. Its just the way it is.

True, which is the only reason I brought up their ages and in fact they were probably closer to the 70-80 age group. Which is also why I didn't throw their coffee at them.. Now if they had been in their 20's I probably wouldn't have been quite as respectful.
