Okay... I finally got one.. Im a little disappointed at how easy it is and am hoping it gets to where I feel like I am losing something.
Did you Wii Fitters feel the same when you started out? I understand the "working into it" attitude and love the yoga, but the rest just seems to be more "killing time" to me so far rather than a real weight loss activity..
Thoughts?

I love the Wii Fit. When I first got it, I added it to my daily routine and actually lost weight from the added activity.

I play it at a friend's. While I don't doubt the added activity is beneficial, I don't think I'll ever be convinced that a video game is as healthy & fit as everyone makes it out to be. I think that cardio takes much more to build than what Wii Fit can offer. The only thing it has that represents running/jogging is the game where you stick the Wii remote in your pocket and follow the lead jogger...that's not much. I think a steady routine of something as simple as push-ups & sit-ups would work better if you're looking to lose inches.
My friend's g/f had been playing it for a long time after they bought it and before I ever even tried it. She worked her way up to 300 & some-odd hoola hoops. My 2nd time doing it, I did 308 and I'm crazy out of shape, so it can't be that big a deal.
I don't want all the Wii Fit owners out there to throw stones at me. It is better than nothing, but it can't replace the real thing. Connie, I totally agree with the "killing time" thing.

See that's the thing...doing 300 hula hoops one time is not gonig to keep you in shape. When I use the Wii Fit, I spend at least 45 minutes working out. If I go to the gym, I spend about 30 or 35 minutes working out.
We actually just bought a 2nd work out game for the Wii. It's supposed to be more advanced.

Oh no, I didn't mean doing 300 hula hoops one time is a work-out. I know it's not. My point was, she had been doing it for a week, working her way up, and when she accomplished that many she thought it was an improvement in her physical condition just from using the Fit. I'm out of shape and did nearly as many as she did on my 2nd try. So I don't think you can credit the Wii Fit entirely.

I think it would depend on the person? Im able to do over 800 on the super hula hoop but I had to laugh at your comment about the running game.. I did the running with Katie yesterday and it absolutely killed me.. lol
What Im getting at is when we first got the Wii, the bowling and baseball and tennis wore me out and my muscles were in pain (that's how out of shape I was/am)... Once I could do all of those games without risking a heart attack, I moved up to the Wii Fit..
I am LOVING the yoga and like Audrey, I will spend more time on the wii fit than I do regularly excersing simply because it doesn't FEEL like Im working out. My first day was 11 mins.. second day was 15 and then yesterday I worked up to 35 AND I did all areas.. yoga, strength training, aerobics and balancing..
I can SEE where it can be beneficial but at the same time I am frustrated at how easy some areas are.. maybe that's the point of the game.. work into the higher things? I guess that's the answer Im hoping to hear here.
I know the "tree" was REALLY hard for me, but the others were easy.. running was hard but the torso twist was easy.. then again the leg twists were killer for me..

Connie,
have you been unlocking new "games"? I'm not super crazy about the boxing, but one of my friends just loves it.

I will spend more time on the wii fit than I do regularly excersing simply because it doesn't FEEL like Im working out. I know exactly what you mean, Connie. If you find it fun, you're more likely to stick with it. But as the saying goes, "No pain no gain." If it doesn't feel like a work-out, there's a chance it's not. I'm not trying to put anyone down who uses it. It definitely has its benefits. I just don't think it's the miracle cure that some people believe it to be.

Audrey I have been unlocking new games. Yesterday I unllocked the bubble river one but haven't tried it yet. I think Katie has the boxing open but I don't really like it on the sports so Im not sure I will like it on the fit either. What new game did you just get and do you like it?
OC: I guess as long as Im feeling pain it's working then? haha.. I believe it will work.. I also believe I need to set up a good workout plan for it though.. Seriously I don't think it will work if I were only to do yoga (although some people swear by yoga) or if I only did 30 mins of tightrope walking.
I am thinking if I can work up to 30 mins yoga, 20 mins aerobics and 20 mins of strength training though... that should be a good workout?
Which brings me back to the original question.. Does anyone have a routine they prefer on it that is working or do you do each and every game/excersise everyday or just whatever you feel like?

Imfiguring it out! You do get to work up to more reps and harder excersises.
I cannot however much I try get the dot to go in the blue area on the rowing excersise though..

Some of them are tough Connie. It's frustrating to see how off balance we are sometimes LOL.
Wii Fit is just one part of my overall exercise regimen.
We have not done the new game yet. It's supposed to be a more strenuous workout than the Wii Fit DVD.

I really want to get some of the skiing and snowboarding games. The ones where you are moving but don't realize it.. that's what I need.. Im really enjoying the fit now that it's getting harder.

Do the yoga and strentgh training ones which go together for a complete workout on certains areas. The boxing one is great, so is the step one.
I think you lose inches rather than pounds. I need to start this again.

Glad to hear it Connie. Do you have Mario Party? We have Mario Party parties at the house What's Mario Party about? My sister almost got it for my boy for DS, but got something else instead. I'd get it for Wii if it's worth it. We like stuff that we can get together with our friends & play. Is it like that?
