... is one of the headlines that have been making waves all over, due to her recent weight gain. Now there is a celebrity backlash, all in favor of Jessica's new image. I saw nothing wrong with her putting on some weight, as she is not obese now, just fuller figured. I do remember that this role model once seriously questioned "Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken by the Sea'." I remember I felt bad for anyone else who was blond. So I decided I would research this and did a search, and the first results I received from my search were hits on the Jessica Simpson diet. WHAT I did not know she had put herself out as a diet guru and made money from it. This has not been mentioned in the articles or news segments I've seen about it. So I have changed my mind. I feel that if someone portrays themselves as a diet guru, then they have to maintain a physique to match. It qualifies him/her to be held to a different standard, as they has made money from convincing others to use their knowledge/wisdom to lose weight/stay in shape. If she shuts her diet sites down, then I might change my mind.

My first thoughts were, who cares, so she gained weight, big deal. Society today puts too much emphasis on bean-pole skinny, model-types. I don't care how good a woman looks...if she's full of plastic with her face stretched back till her eyes touch her ears and her lips full of butt fat, I'm not interested.
I've always thought Jessica was a gorgeous woman but I couldn't spend 10 minutes with her because (yes I'll say it) she's so dumb. She gave a whole new meaning to the word. Much like the 3 Playboy girls on The Girls Next Door...I don't care how hot they are, as soon as they speak, I cringe.
I'm ashamed to say I did watch her & Nick's reality show. The dang thing was like a car wreck, you couldn't look away. I just had to see what stupid things she was going to say next. I give Nick credit for putting up with some of her antics in front of millions of viewers. And I couldn't stand it when they chose her to play Daisy Duke because it's such a classic TV role and she can't act her way out of a tuna can. Lassie was a better actor. Then she started popping up everywhere simply because she was the flavor of the week. It drives me nuts when Hollywood will give you work just because you're in the news.
I agree that she shouldn't represent herself as a diet expert when she can't balance her own diet. I'm sure she's paid someone to worry about that for her and to keep her in shape all these years. Who knows why she's changed all that recently. Not saying it's a bad thing. But then again I guess her advertising the Jessica Simpson diet is no different than any other celeb who endorses a product that you know they'll never touch.

So what exactly IS the right size for someone who has a diet plan in their name? Jessica is still like a size SIX... the average american woman is a size 14.
If she has a diet plan in her name.. I would love to see her promote it as being the diet that got her to the size she is TODAY and keeps her there. She is much healthier and happy looking these days.

Everybody is an individual and height and weight charts are based on an average or ideal body type. Since muscle weighs more than fat, many professional athletes have a Body Mass Indexes (BMI) that places them as overweight or obese. I think that in a perfect world, it is the person who should be happy inside their own body, and the opinions of others shouldn't matter. But we do not live in a perfect world, and celebrities are judged. When one promotes themselves as one of the beautiful people and a diet guru at a certain weight, then it is OK when others bring up the fact that they have gained weight. It is part of the price of fame. I never said she needed to lose weight, but since the pictures used for her being a diet guru are old and do not reflect her current weight, then it is false advertising. I really know nothing about women's sizes, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If I said I beheld another woman as beautiful, then the Spousal Unit would be holding my eyes (most likely, no longer attached to me)

I have to agree with Connie. I find it sickening to see all these articles calling a size 6 fat. Hate to think what that means for me. I hate that girls are growing up thinking that they are obese if they go past a size 1. I'd rather be healthy than a stick.

I am not agruing with you. But what diet program is she hawking. I know she does the Pro Active stuff for skin care. I was just wondering.
I don't know if she is really that dumb. I remember some of the great dummies of entertainment. Gracie Allen, Jerry Lewis, Ashton Kutcher. All very smart folks. Laughing all the way to the bank. I don't know if she is or not. I do think she is a cutie, size 2 or size whatever she was in that picture. Seems like a nice person too.

This one has been bugging me for days (weeks) now so I have to respond. If only in the hopes that the guys will understand a bit of the pressure.
I am 5'5 and a medium build.. Im a size 14 (again, average for american women).. Jessica I don't think is much taller than I am. When I graduated HS I was a size 7. I look back at pictures of myself and I did not look healthy.. my collar bones stood out prominently.
I have a friend who is about 5'8 and a model. In real life she looks very unhealthy. Put her in front of the cameras and she looks great... She is probably a size 0.
For me, a size 9-10 is about right and where I feel I look good... Jessica simpson is 5'3... two inches shorter than I am... so she is probably doing really good at being a size 6...
Everyone has to remember the cameras and camera angles can be played up to make us look great or awful... as long as she is happy with herself and at a healthy weight.. we should be happy for her instead of falling for the medias idea that all women should be at a size 0.

...I think that in a perfect world, it is the person who should be happy inside their own body, and the opinions of others shouldn't matter... If ,as everyone says, it was poor choice of clothing and a bad camera angle, then why is one of today's headlines "Jessica's Revenge Diet"? No matter what, this whole thing has been great publicity for her. What guys? What pressure? Women do it to themselves and deserve it! I have never seen/heard a guy try on something and ask someone else if it makes them look fat. I am not saying that it doesn't happen, but I have never personally experienced it; whereas, women do it all the time, and I have personally experience that many many many times. But then again, this may be due to the fact that I grew up in a household full of women (mother and two sisters). Now be honest, how many of you women were getting upset? Too funny, too funny, too funny...

But in today's society girls are SEEING EVERYWHERE tiny skinny women and girls-alot of emphasis is put on how you look. I have a middle-schooler who is now saying she is fat when she really isn't. But what they see and hear about all over on tv and in print are girls and women who look like Jessica looked. it is hard to explain-also many guys say they don't want 'fat girls" so how do you reconcile that with love your body the way it is and be healthy? I think Jessica looked good before in pictures but i have never seen her in person-she might or might not have been healthy......but the diet thing seems ridiculous now IF she isn't saying eat healthy and find your best body weight. That being said, everybody has a different best body weight for themselves and a different sized frame and I think that isn't taken into account at times.

What guys? What pressure? Women do it to themselves and deserve it! Too funny, too funny, too funny...Yes Cookie, it does depend on body types.. and other factors.. I WILL call bull**** on Louis though... When was the last time ANY woman heard a man say "Oh doesn't Roseanne look sexy?" Or "What's the deal with that girl from Cheers.. she looks GREAT".. Women do it to themselves? Sorry.. Nope...

Nah nah - pulled your chain! Even funnier!
You left out the part where I said I grew up in a household of women, so I heard them all the time.
I don't know about that, but does Hooters count?

What's the deal with that girl from Cheers.. she looks GREAT Are you talking about Kirstie Alley? I thought she looked great on Cheers and she was in no way a tiny woman. Also during her "Look Who's Talking" movies...again, not a small woman but I found her very attractive. I will admit that when she reached her heaviest weight, I didn't find her attractive but at her heaviest, she was much MUCH bigger than her Cheers & Look Who's talking years. There was a drastic difference. Personally I can't stand women who are too skinny. Models do absolutely nothing for me. I'll go back to Louis' original point of this topic. Regardless of whether or not Jessica Simpson is considered "fat" in those photos, what he was saying was how can she promote herself as a diet expert with her own special diet (named after herself) and make money from it when she won't even regulate her own weight? But I think the biggest question is, do we know if she came out with this Jessica Simpson diet before or after she gained weight? If it was before, I see Louis' point. If she created it after, then she's like so many other celebs who do it and it's really no big deal.

I think my point got lost... If she is a healthy weight and happy with herself.. why should she dump her diet plan? There are NO healthy diet plans that will keep a woman her height at a size zero... If her diet plan is healthy it would put her closer to where she is now... I didn't explain it well but I know what I mean
