I am rather embarrassed to say I have seriously let myself go. BK (before kids) I lost a lot of weight. I gained every last bit back with my first kid, managed to get all but 10 lbs of it off, which I was okay with. I now weigh 10 lbs less than I did 9 months pregnant with baby #2. I would love to blame it on him... but he is 14 months old. Truth is i have been lazy and put on 15 lbs since I quit smoking. It;s been 7 months and I need to do something about it.
I am 5'4" and 170 lbs, not really huge but enough that I still don't fit in my clothes, and I just don't feel good, not only about my self but in general (sluggish, lazy)
I am trying all around to make my family healthier. I started by canceling the satellite service (okay there is more to that story... but I left it off instead of switching) and turning off the tv and I have been forcing myself to cook- even though there are few things I hate doing more. Paying closer attention to the food we put in our bodies and now I just have to get moving again. My immediate goal is to start slow, do a pilates or a yoga workout 3-4 times a week and move on to some cardio- but man I hate sweating, lol. I KNOW I feel better when I workout in some way or another, it's just too darn easy to fall off track and it's so hard to get going again.
So if it is okay with you ladies I'd love to cheer you on and get a couple cheers myself. I need the accountability, apparently.

Tara,
Absolutely you can join. My story is very simliar I never took the weight off after having kids. Finally, last year I decided it was coming off and so pound by pound it came off.
I'd love to lose just 10 more, but those last 10 will require some changes that I'm not ready to make yet.
Last year I did change our eating habits and added daily exercise into my routine.
All I can say on the exercise is that it helps tremendously on the weight loss and after a while, you'll feel so icky on the days you don't exercise that you'll want to find a way to get the exercise in.

You are absolutely welcome! I have also been slacking off and if it helps.. AFTER losing 20 lbs I am at 170 and am also 5'4. I was 10 lbs HEAVIER than when I was pregnant when I started so you are already ahead!
It sounds like you have a great plan and that's half the battle.
I can happily say that even though I have slacked off and haven't been as careful and haven't been as active as when I started dieting.. I haven't gained any weight back and have even lost 5 lbs more. I was at a 15 lb loss when I slowed down.

I agree that is awesome Connie! I've been reading through. You ladies are inspiring.
I want to walk daily. I am in between a rock and a hard place on that one. I live on a very busy state highway, that I am afraid to walk down alone, let alone with two or three kids. I could technically drive somewhere to walk.... but that means gas money... not just for me but hubby would have to drive the truck to work... meaning even more gas money that I just do not have. I have a treadmill but I hate it. I feel like a hamster, running and running but never getting anywhere. Plus its rather noisy and really loud in my tiny house. So I can't do it at night while the kids are in bed, and they wont leave me alone for five minutes during the day. I could use the gate and lock them across the room, unfortunately they are louder than the treadmill and in the end I get more stressed, not less. I told hubby I want to move (or maybe sell the kids- kidding, I am kidding, I think...) so that I can walk, he didn't jump on board though, lol.

Can you drive just 3 blocks to get away from the highway? Can you drive to a park? Can you drive to a high school and walk the track? I do that with friends a few times per month. Can you walk the treadmill when your husband is home from work? One of the things I like about cardio days is I get to read.

Those are all things that make it difficult Tara. I've been there many times. ANYTHING that you are doing to move is great. Put on some great dance music and dance with the kids. They will love it and you will get some excersise and be the "fun" mom at the same time

I wonder if those so called revolutionary products in the infomercials make a suitable alternative than all those sweating and working out stuff. You know like that butterfly abs lol. Sorry I'm a guy, can't related too much, but I have a fondness of home shopping network and thought I'd share it with you all.

No they don't, lol. A waste of money... most of them anyway. I had a bun and thigh rocker- I LOVED that thing and it worked, I used it so much then I let my SIL borrow it while I was PG and she sold it on me!!!! I was ticked to say the least. I also have a total gym... it's ion the basement because I just don;t have space for it but I bet it would work as well as the rocker. However they both involve sweat and work.
I am an infomercial junkie- I want it all, currently I want a hydrovac, lol.
I have been doing teh treadmill every other day and pilates on the other day. Haven't lost a thing yet but I feel better and my jeans fit a little better already.

Tara, that is AWESOME!!!!! I exercise 6 days a week most weeks. This week, only 5 days. BUT the other two days I was involved in moving for several hours each day, giving me a different sort of exercise.

Good work tara, just picking something and sticking with it. sometimes I think you have to pick just about anything and stick to it, just so you are doing something and never give up.
