About a week ago a mom at my son's baseball game was telling my g/f about a money-making opportunity. My g/f came to me & said that so & so knows of a job we can do to make some good money. She repeated the other woman's comment that someone in our area was making $1000+/week. Right away I said, if someone's claiming we can make that much in that short of time, it's a scam.
I learned it was Mona Vie, the "health drink." The woman said she'd bring us a sample to try, but we didn't get a chance to discuss it at length with her.
After we got home & I asked about it, she used the word "pyramid"...I'm guessing that other mom brought it up first because my g/f doesn't know much about it. I explained that they were illegal & scams. I told her a bit about MLM's.
After doing some research (there was a lot of discussion on scam.com) my question is, do y'all think MonaVie is nothing more than a pyramid scam or can it be a legit MLM? The discussion on scam.com is all over the spectrum. Total scam to legit, profitable business. Most of the time they veer off in their own direction and get off the subject at hand. They start talking vaguely about all MLM's & pyramids instead of concentrating on the original question, which was all about MonaVie. It got aggravating cause I wanted to know more about MonaVie & not about pyramids & MLM's as a whole.
I'd have to look into it more. I don't think the mom that brought it up to us is actually a "distributor" so I don't think she was trying to recruit us. I believe her & her husband may be considering doing it themselves. I have to talk to her more. There is a product to sell, which according to Connie's posts, is a good sign. But I know that there's recruiting of new distributors going on too.
The company's been around since '03. According to the BBB, they've had 19 complaints in the last 3 yrs with a total of 14 of them being closed in the last year.
If I were to treat this as a business & not a recruiting scam, is it possible to succeed? Try to sell the product legitimately without boasting it as a miracle medical juice, but just as a good tasting product...and if you like it, buy more. Make others aware of the opportunity to sell it themselves but NOT force that down their throats? Could that work? I appreciate any help & advice. Thanks!
