I don't understand why this issue is being turned into the "scandal" that it's become. AZ wants to do something about the illegal aliens in the country (in their state) and prevent more illegals from crossing the border. Key word here folks: ILLEGAL. They're criminals just by being here.

yes and who in the hell is LA and Texas think they are in boycotting Arizonia!!! It is none of their flippin business what arizona votes in. did you see where arizona supplies 24% of california power and is threatening to cut it off. Hey two can play that game. But it shouldn't be like that. Of course I think that the last count California alone had 12 million mexicans I wonder how many of those are legal??? Anyone want to hazard a guess!! This subject just irritates that crap out of me. I support Arizona's guts to finally take a stand that nobody else would. And today the government said it doesn't want to touch the subject because it is election year!! What has been their excuse up to this point?? oh they were too busy giving bailouts and accepting bribes!! And it was a news flash on the new tonight for some kind of special tomorrow. Something about our government spending 3 billion on military planes that the military don't want??? That would be interesting to watch.

Texas is similar to L.A. in that they have a large Mexican population, so that's probably why you hear talk of boycott coming from that state. Otherwise they're usually known for not putting up with anyone's crap.
When Calderon & Obama stood in front of Congress the other day badmouthing AZ, they got a standing ovation. I think it's pathetic that our politicians cheer as another country's leader stands on our soil and puts us down. It's even worse that our own President does it.
Last year Mexican immigrants sent $21 billion back to Mexico. It ranks as the United States' second highest foreign exchange, behind only oil. That is money that could be helping our economy.

I don't know how accurate this info is but I was a little taken aback... we had an AWESOME shuttle driver from the airport to our hotel in LA... Katie happened to ask how many people lived in LA.. My guess was 1/2 a million.. boy was I off! Our shuttle driver had a great sense of humor and asked if we meant legal or illegal.. I asked for both numbers... His numbers? I can't remember the legal number but it was around 30 million... ILLEGAL? 11 MILLION... that is amazing

yes I had heard there are 12 million illegals?? It is scary when you think about it. Because every baby is a us citizen because of our stupid law and it will just get worse. They figure they won't separate familys and that is wrong!!! We need to repeal that law I keep saying that and will continue to say it. And this is why we are getting outnumbered. It doesn't matter what nationality they are the law pertains to all nationalies.

It's not much different than the illegals suing the AZ rancher for violating "their" civil liberties.. or the mexican town that is upset that the mexicans will have to come back across the border.. Seriously.. WHY do they think they have civil liberties if they are illegal... why does Mexico fell it is OUR job to give their citizens jobs and benefits?

Hey guys . Here's my take... If you are here ILLEGALLY you need to go back to your country. We just came home from Arizona Funny thing is we were too Mexican for Williams (the town we were in) we received a bunch of looks & were the only non blue eyes in the hotel & resturants. Here at home in so Cali we are not Mexican enough.

I had a thought about this today and I DO understand the civil rights concepts but I was still pondering this thought:
AZ law simply reads that if police suspect someone is here illegally they have the right to check it out.
Seriously... Shouldn't this have ALWAYS been a right? Wth is the big deal?

The way I se it .. If you are illegal you have no rights here!! I agree Connie that should be the right and part of the job for law enforcement.

Seriously... Shouldn't this have ALWAYS been a right? Wth is the big deal? I still don't think illegals should have civil rights...they're here illegally. If they came here under a work Visa or some other LEGAL method, then that's different. I posted on page one that AZ passed this as a State law and all it does is mirror Federal law. Every non-citizen in the U.S. has been required to carry documents proving their status since Congress passed the Alien Registration Act in 1940. So yes, law enforcement has every right to check their papers. We are truly a nation divided. So many groups of Americans want to be known as their own special sub-category. Mexican-American, African-American, Hispanic-American, the list keeps growing. What happened to just being American? I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but those who cry out for racial equality the most are the very ones who work hard to separate themselves from other races.

I live in So Cali, people here will have the Mexican flag flying or on their cars. Our rental is empty, I can't tell you how many times people call and all they speak is Spanish . I delete those calls now. My husband is bi-lingual. Still if you can't talk to me why am I going to bother. I get attitude because I din't speak it ! We tell them that we run a credit check. They tell us no it's ok they have no credit and no papers. One couple even said they have a name they can use who will pass the credit check. Seriously? There are alot of police checkpoints here. People will say " look it's racist ! They are only pulling over the mexicans." come on, that's the majority here !! Do I feel bad when their cars are taken away? NO ! If these people have no liscense no insurance, get them off the streets! I feel if they are found to be here ILEGALLY bye .. Send them back. Yes I feel sorry for them, yes I can understand wanting to have a better life, but there are people who come here legally, people who are proud to become American citizens. Do it that way. Don't sneak here, expect us to pay for the babies you are having here, expect us to learn your language expect us to cater to you. That how it is here in So Cali. I get attitude for not speaking Spanish! My kids are in the minority in their classrooms ! When my son was in 1st grade he was one of Two English speakers in his class. Wth?! Our schools wouldn't be as crowded . My kids would have a better education.
Sorry didn't mean to ramble, just it's do dang annoying.

Are you here illegally? Do you need work? Come live in our small town, we'll give you refuge and a job. Immigrants moving to smaller U.S. townsAlthough the article uses the term "immigrants" and only mentions the word "illegal" once, I think it's mainly referring to a majority being illegal. In a way, I can see why this is happening. They can go to a small town and "hide" without the hassle of the Govt. But on the other hand, usually in small towns, especially in the heartland of America where people have been raised with particular morals & values, I'm surprised that more people aren't raising more of a fuss if their small communities are being inundated with illegals. FYI Boise is mentioned, Connie.
