Hey friends! I wanted to bounce an idea I've had for a couple of year off of you and hope you'll join in. Like a lot of you I'm outraged at our government's refusal to do anything about illegal immigration. I'm sick and tired of those of us who oppose illegal immigration being branded as racists, zenophobes, and even Nazis, and I want to do something about it.
I propose that on the first weekend in May, Cinco de Mayo weekend, every patriotic American "boycott" every restaurant in this country. Don't go to McDonald's. Don't send out for Dominos pizza. Don't celebrate your parents' 30th anniversary at Outback Steakhouse. Stay home and keep your dollars in your pockets.
The purpose of this "boycott" is to send a message to businesses, which usually support illegal immigration, that its profits don't come from the illegal labor they employ but from Americans buying their products. The restaurant industry is known to rely heavily on illegal labor. If we stop spending our money on them their income will come to a screeching halt. My hope is that facing a weekend of empty stores and diminished cash registers will force not only restaurants but other pro-illegal alien industries to rethink they're position.
Participating in this collective action won't be hard. All you'll have to do is just not eat out for three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). If you think this'll be a problem for you start planning ahead now. Why not, for example, cook up and freeze extra food now so you can have "fast" food then. If you've schedueled a birthday party for little Johnny on that weekend get creative and throw a super party at home. Again, you can start planning it now.
It's not enough just to whine and complain about illegal immigration. We've got to take action; we've got to put our money where our mouths are. We can spread the word about the "boycott" here on this forum and other forums or groups we're members of. We can enlist our family and friends. We can write about it on our blogs. We've got to get the word out! Are you with me?
