in an interview with the new york times hillary said she would push for a universal healthcare program and our contributions would be 5-10 percent of my income. Now, I dont like taxes coming out of my pay check. BECAUSE that means I am paying for those that are NOT working. I think we should all pay equally. at the register. I sure as hell dont think I should have to pay for my OWN insurance through blue cross blue shield AND give the goverment (the one famous for 200.00 ashtrays) 5% to cover everyone else. So they want me to what?? drop my healthcare and go with theirs? continue to pay for the deadbeats? pay MORe for the deadbeats? I cant afford to raise my own family of 6. why should I raise someone elses? All it is is another "tax" and we all knwo how taxes work right? youmake 10,000 a year you pay in 300.00 you make 100,000. a year you pay in 3,000. So 10% of my income is MUCH higher than the one that lives on welfare. OH wait, they dont have income. BUt they are getting that incintive rebate arent they? and think about this scenario. I decide I want healthcare. I am gona go and campaign for hillery. I make 50 grand a year. ( remember, I really have NO insurance) I have 4 kids, a husband and myself. A large family and possibly some high dr bills. is 10 % of 50 grand 5 grand?? (God I hope my math is wrong) So say I haev to pay 5 grand a year for insurance. Not insurance I pick mind you. But what about the couple who dont have children. either by deisgn or due to problems conciveing, and make 100 grand a year. why should they have to pay 10,000 a year to insure me and my 4 offspring? Because they went to college and got a good job? yep we should continue to punish those that try to better themselves.

Oh I HATE Hillarys plan and I don't like Obamas either.. the one thing you left out is that they will FORCE us to have health insurance.. If I had 600 a month for insurance I would already be paying for it. So if you can't afford it now but your employer offers it you will have to take it. If your employer doesn't offer it you can opt in for some other insurance plan.. ugh
Why do they keep making it so complicated and difficult? Why can't they just change medicare/medicaid around? For instance if you make $15,000 or less a year you can sign up but it will cost you $20 a month per person. If you make $15k-30K you pay $40 per person, $30k-$60 you pay $60 per person. OR you can stay with your own insurance. It would generate income for the program and it would make insurance affordable. PLUS no one would be getting it for free unless they are low income and retired.

I agree. and your right, I did leave that out . its NOT a 'if you want to' its a 'do it or else'
I do have a problem with welfare. I know that there are some folks need a little pick me up. Dont get me wrong. Everyone needs some help at sometime or another.
But when you are born under the plan, and have your 10 kids on the plan, and then die and your family gets that last check under the plan, you have abused the system. This is what needs to stop. The govt could afford more things if we were NOT paying out to deadbeats every month. illegal immigrants included.
REtired persons and the elderly should never have to ask for anything. on your 65th birthday you should just start getting supplemental income, insurance and help with food etc.

Oh I have lots of problem with welfare.. that's why I like my plan.. everyone enrolled pays something.. I would love to see welfare be something you can use for 3 mos to get back on your feet and ONLY once a year at the most.. I would love to see changes in the disability program too.. there are many areas I want to see change... how come none of the candidates talk about REAL change?

I like choosing my own healthcare thank you very much. I don't like paying for other people's health care. What are these people thinking (or not thinking)

So is the general consensus that there should be NO medicaid/medicare (except for the elderly)?

I feel like I don't exactly know enough to have an opinion but anyone illegal should definitely not have any healthcare.

No health care for illegals? Welfare limited to 3 months? The successful shouldn't have to pay for the deadbeats? Oh, you bunch of heartless hatemongers! Count me in!

I think even 3 months of welfare a year is way too much. If you need welfare once, fine...but figure it out.

Ok, so let me throw a different perspective here. My friend was married. They had 3 kids. All of a sudden, her husband, the father of these 3 kids, the man who was supporting them all decided this all wasn't for him. He walked out.
So...now you have a single woman, about 28 years old with 3 kids under the age of 5 (two were twins).
She had no job skills, no previous job experience.
What does she do? Honestly, I'd love to hear from others what she now does.

She files for help, She gets a grant, she goes to school, she learns a skill and gets a job.
THe govt is there TO help. And I dont begrudge anyone needing a little help. Plus he needs to pay.
But to get on it, stay on it and never try to go to work. thats unacceptable.
LOL americanangel!

Audrey, that's what welfare is there for. But should we support her for the rest of her life? I don't think so!

She was on welfare under a year. I don't recall how long exactly. I saw her this past summer at my high school reunion. She is doing GREAT. Those twins are now in the service, both overseas, serving our country. Her daughter is a young married woman with a child of her own. If it hadn't been for welfare she wouldn't be where she is today.

That's exactly the point. She used it to help herself...not to take advantage.

Audrey, I get the point you're trying to make but I don't agree. Let me tell you a story.
My maternal grandmother became a wife and mother while still a teenager. This was in the late '30's, in the Old South. Granny had just about every strike against her that a person could have in that time and place. She was poor, black, female, and barely had a high school education but when her marriage to my Mom's father became unbearable Granny didn't hesitate to divorce him. Afterwards, she did what she had to do to survive, and it didn't include going on welfare. Rather, Granny moved back in with her mom to save money and cleaned the homes and raised the children of well-off white people to make money. She was the sole provider for my Mom until she remarried several years later.
Audrey, I'm glad that things worked out for your friend and that she didn't abuse the system, but please to expect me to conclude that going on welfare was her only option. If my grandmother could survive without welfare in a time when people like her had virtually no opportunities, there's no excuse for anyone today to feed at the public trough.
