Rave about great experiences or tell us your gripes!

My gripe: Why oh why do experienced eBayers buy from someone with horrible feedback? Last night I found someone who had a feedback score of 88.4%. They had 16705 negatives and in the past year 9871 neutrals. And the bid at that point was over a thousand dollars!??
Great experience: I had a seller check on me thru emails during Hurricane Rita. She was very nice and expressed concern. I thought that was so thoughtful and it was good to know that they still have people like that especially selling on eBay.

I am glad to hear of the rave! I recently had a buyer who did not pay for her item. She had a zero feedback to begin with but I waited almost three weeks to file a dispute because I thought: "what if she died?, what if she is in the hospital or had a bad accident?" lol I was so worried that something had happened. Still haven't heard from her though...

I bought my first item on Ebay in the middle of September and paid for it through paypal. I then received an email saying the product was on backorder....not sure why you would sell something you don't have on hand. Especially when it was listed as Buy it now...and I did. After several emails I did finally recieve it...this past week.

On the other hand I had a lady send me the item before I even had a chance to paypal her the payment.

She ordered some fishnet stockings over a month ago for halloween, still hasn't gotten them. This seller has a high rating 98% or around there but this past two months has had TONS of complaints about not having items in stock. I personally think people like this are using bad dropshippers. I had thought of getting into the dropshipping thing because you can up your volume in a big way but now Im afraid these types of things would happen to me too. Not an ethical or good way of doing business.

I think I just discovered my first rant. Snipers. I have never really understood the concept of sniping but after a little research this morning I think I get it. I also think... I don't like it! It just seems unfair to the sellers. If there is an item you want why can't you just put in your max bid and let it go from there. You will get notified if you are outbid. Why not make it fair for sellers and other buyers. If you want to get it for the cheapest price then sit at your computer and wait for the last minute to put your bid in. If anyone has an opinion on the other side of the coin, I would love to hear it!

I got an email from Ebay this morning. They pulled my mystery box auction! Here is the reason: It was a box of brand new clothes still with tags on etc. In the description for fun I put: All proceed from this auction will benefit the original owner (my daughter)
Ebay decided I was running a charity auction! lol

Why would they have an issue with a charity auction anyway?
Did you explain? [/b]

I deleted the message but basically it is because I wasn't authorized to run a charity auction. I was going to complain and then I thought, why bother, I will just relist and hope I didn't have bidders. The part that gets me is that reading through the policies after this it looks like someone would have had to complain about the auction to get it pulled. I had assumed that they have a word checker and the words "all proceeds benefit" got flagged but now I don't know for sure. It just seemed like no one actually LOOKED at the auction and the whole context before pulling it. I imagine it is a pretty busy office though lol. The other part that they worry about as far as charity auctions is they have no way of guaranteeing that the proceeds are going to the charity unless you go through their charity auction program. When you are putting up a listing you can specify that a certain amount is going to be donated to charity and pick the charity and I believe they take that percentage out and handle it on their own. I wasn't really running a charity so I never put a percentage in or picked a charity. I just used ill advised wording. I thought it was cute at the time.

Snipers snipe so that other (less serious) bidders wll not have time to raise they're bid 1 dollar at a time. Were you ever the high bidder and then someone comes and bids 1.00 then 2.00 then 3.00 and then they go away? And you think "they just made me pay $6 dollars more for nothing!" So if you bid at the last minute no one has a chance to needlessly raise your purchase price. That IS bad for sellers but it's so common that I try not to get mad because then I'd be mad often!

I almost never buy from people with almost no feedback, because I'm paranoid about getting ripped off. But then I think, maybe they don't see often, and turn it into a job. I mean, I tried to sell something on ebay (it didn't sell), and no one bid. So I wonder if it was due to the item, or if it was due to my low amount of feedback.[/b]

I guess I am just SO naive!! lol.. Why on earth would someone bid if they aren't somewhat serious? Wouldn't they be afraid of getting stuck with the item? Maybe they were willing to pay $3 and it went higher? I just don't get it. If there is something I want, I put in my maximum bid and let it go at that. If I get it great, if not oh well. I just bought a ring for my dh and put my max bid at $45, when it got to $47 I waited until the end of the auction and with a couple mins left I put in another bid of up to $51 and got it for $50. I thought that was how it is supposed to work. I didn't use a sniping site to do it.

well sniping sites are like a friend that bids at the last second FOR you cause for some reason you can't be at your computer exactly when the auction is ending. But they charge you like 1% of the purchase price of whatever auction they sniped. Also tho, there is this free site that'll snipe for you but I don't remember the name of the site right offhand. (i can get it if you want) And that's what i meant by 'less serious' bidders like if you're willing to pay $50 for a ring and the bid is at $2 but the auction has an hour left, then 5 people could come and bid $2 each and then walk away. So they weren't as serious about buying the ring as you were but now you're paying $12 for your ring, instead of $2. When I first started on eBay (and still) I would always search the auctions that were ending soonest displayed first. So in a way I guess I was sniping and didn't know it! If you read the threads on eBay, they're always talking about how it's rough on sellers with little feedback. But I've stuck my neck out a few times and bought from someone with less than 50 and it's always worked out fine for me. I like to see a neat template and the squaretrade seal cause then you know that the seller is serious about eBay and not like a fly by night business, ya know? And Samantha I just noticed that your last post made 100!! I'm typing in this quick reply box so I happened to look up and notice it. Congratulations! I haven't been online much the past few days. There was a funeral in the family and I've been upset but it sure is nice to be posting with yall again!! Man.....I think.....I think I missed yall!!
