I just have to remember to buy dryer sheets! We don't use them because Kirstin has very sensitive skin and always breaks out when I use any type of fabric softener. I want a box just for the dog!

Aww, poor Kirstin. I hate how the clothes come out when we don't use fabric softener.

Hey, I have a tip for keeping your dog fresh between bathings, take and wipe them down with a baby wipe. I haven't used it on Little Bit yet, but my sister fosters a basset hound and they told her that she could use doggie wipe (same darn thing as baby wipes but baby wipes are cheaper!) to keep him fresh between bathings and adoption day.
We actually use them on Thumper and we started out buying the rabbit wipes, but I thought about it and said if I get the sensitive wipes they will work the same! They really do and it helps her to not shed as much, which is another plus!!

I use baby wipes for everything! I usually wipe CG with baby wipes whenever she's muddy. But as far as a smell, I'm noticing the bounce is stronger and last longer. #character0305#

That shampoo idea is great! I'm going to try it tomorrow. We live in Florida and it just didn't get cold enough this year to kill off the fleas. We can't find where he is getting them in the yard and I'm paranoid the house will be a problem next.

That is me! When we took odie to the vet last time and discovered he had fleas I went nuts.. Sprayed the entire house, it stunk SO BAD. Then I had to call the vet to make sure that was going to do the trick. I couldn't sleep I was so afraid there were fleas everywhere. Gave me the heebeejeebees.. I have never seen a flea in the house but still... sheesh.. dogs...

Pretty much any kind of soap will kill fleas. But it will also dry out their skin and they will still be a scrtachin'!! There are some really good home recipes for doggy shampoos on the internet that will moisturize their skin while getting rid of fleas. I have done some research on the topic and have found that dogs (or any animal) gets fleas from a poor diet. While most of us think that our dogs food is nutritious, it's very much the opposite. A dog was intended by nature to eat meat. Raw meat. Hence the sharp canine teeth for tearing it off the prey. When their diet is made up of the meat/protien they need , fleas won't be a problem. I feed my dogs raw (room temp.) hamburger meat, partially cooked chicken, soft boiled eggs(GREAT for the skin and makes the coat shiny, too!!) and very finely chopped, almost mush, certain veggies they can eat. Normally when a dog kills a prey , let's say a rabbit, the rabbit is a veggie eater. The dog will eat the stomach and it's contents (after the meat of course) so in turn the dog gets some pre-digested veggies. It's not very healthy for a dog to eat raw veggies since their intestinal tract cannot digest it properly. It only usually has the correct enzymes to digest meat and kill bacteria. I know someone who feeds their dogs only a homemade diet , and never has had a flea problem. Only bathes the dog for the smell factor. Anyhooo- if ya'll have time , do a google search for "homemade dog food" and/or "natural flea remedies", etc., etc.
