Quite honestly, this topic scares me much more than the health care debate. In fact some people think that the health care debate is a way to deter us from looking at what is happening with this innoculation.
Some think they are looking at making it mandatory. I have no desire to take it and won't let Katie get it either.
Seriously.. WHY are they pushing this through? Many doctors have said that while it is a widespread outbreak, the illness itself is not serious.
We have 36,000 people die every year from the regular flu.. the swine flu hasn't even touched that number.
They are predicting by this fall over 100,000 americans will have contracted it. The reality in my opinion is that we have probably already surpassed that number but since it isn't serious, most people haven't even went to the doctor about it so it hasn't been recorded.
They want this fall that all kids will have a regular flu shot and then if it's their first in awhile to have a second booster a few weeks later, then to ALSO have the swine flu shot and again three later a booster..
I don't think so..

Some are thinking it is going to become mandatory.. Might be having to home school soon if that is the case.

I don't think it will be mandatory, only because there will not be enough to go around for everyone. They are already claiming there will be a shortage for those who do want it.

I will pass on this as I usually do. We get them free at work but I don't get them. I have about 1000 hours of sick time bulit up,so I'm good if I do get sick. I do have a cold right now-summer colds suck

This brings back memories of when I was stationed in Saudi Arabia. The anthrax vaccine was still fairly new and had just become mandatory Air Force wide. I believe at that time it was a series of 3 injections. Many many soldiers refused because of the unknown nature of the drug & known side effects being experience by a lot who got it. Even Officers were losing their commission after being court-martialed for refusing the vaccine.
I left the desert before they got around to giving me my first course and was lucky enough (in my opinion) to leave the service before getting it back in the States. A friend of mine got one course. His upper arm where they gave him the shot throbbed in pain for days on end.
I've got a big problem with someone coming at my son with a needle without my permission. I would get physical if I had to. I'm fed up with our school district as it is. If that's where they tried something like this, they'd have BIG BIG trouble from me.
