I can't see the link. I did find a list of rankings. We are # 37, France being #1 Germany 25, the UK 18. I don't know, something needs to be done, I can't pretend to understand the complexities of it. I hear the arguments against it using other countries as examples but those countries are ranked higher than we are. Not perfect I am sure, but they must be doing SOMETHING better than we are. I hear the tax rate argument too but the some of the countries listed are not much, if at all higher than us. And if I take my tax rate and add on the 12% that I already DO pay for insurance and that is just insurance that is not adding in my OOP costs, other countries pay far less in the long run and get more for it. At least that is how it seems from where I am sitting, but again I can't pretend that I have a good grasp of any of it.

Has anyone else noticed that Obama is saying that health care reform "is crucial to the recovery of our economy," yet a couple short months ago he said the stimulus was what would cure the ailing economy? Any rational person can see this man talks out both sides of his mouth, I don't care what party you side with.

I was against the stimulus from day one, starting last year before Obama was even around, and still once he was. But, I can see healthcare crucial to the economic recovery. You can turn things around but for those who still can't afford health care, not a whole lot will change in their circumstances if they fall ill. I'm not sure I am grasping you on this particular comment. Did he say that the stimulus was the one and only thing needed? I thought he was talking both from the beginning. It's not like he just came out yesterday and said hey we need health care reform.

Nah! The first thing he signed was an executive order to shut down the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. He can't even get that to go according to his plan.
A friend and I were discussing the economic recession, and we both know about economic cycles. When spending exceeds earnings, there comes a time to pay the piper. That's where we are now, and there are plenty of areas of the US economy that need restructuring. Health Care is just one area.

The truth about Obamacare Dear Friend, If you think you might have to go to the doctor, you better do it now. Amid drooping approval ratings, [glow=red,2,300]Comrade Obama [/glow]is in a panic to ram through the catastrophic health-care plan before Congress's summer recess. Comrade, give me a break, they start throwing false labels out there when they want fear more than thought to color the debate. Guys like Matt? Drudge of The Drudge Report was caught spreading crap again that just wasn't true. About Pres. Obama thoughts about health care. factcheck.org/2009/08/white-house-fact-checking/Almost every time I hear the opponents to health care reform they bring out the specter of socialism, and no choice. Well the no choice has been with most of us for years now. The rich and those with good insurance coverage (becoming rarer everyday) are being scared that they will lose something. I don't think that's what will happen. The rich in these other countries get the extra, quicker and elective care they want as they will continue to get in this country. There is a shortage of doctors in the US for many reasons some being the the costs of eduction, mal-practice insurance, price of doing business, and insurance interference in patient care. Also the fact no one is going into general practice much any more, "no big bucks in that" Health care should be a right, it should not be a for profit industry. Kind of like safe food, clean water, good eduction, defence and safe infrastructure. If health care was controled or at least monitored effected business costs would go down. Kids would be healthier, more would grow older healthier instead of burdens. More folks would get checked while problems were small instead of catitrophic (and costs more) I don't know what the perfect mix will be in the health care solution but I want blowhards like Limbaugh and Beck on the right to quit there lying and incitements to riot. I also want the dreamers of utopia on the far left to start seeing where reality can meet the real world. Of course other countries don't have it perfect but most of them don't give better health care to their prisoners than their citizens as we do. I go back to my original stand, our leaders need to start working at their jobs and quit grandstanding for the cameras and their radical well moneyed contributors. They need to make sure America is a healthy county as well as a powerful one. Our job is to keep bugging them till they do. Thought I would add this link here and I think I will give it its own thread as well.
